With 17 songs they're never all going to be gems, A couple of duds (Jamaica Jerkoff, Roy Rogers) but it is a very enjoyable album. Highlights are Love Lies Bleeding and Saturday Night's Alright.

First time listening. Excellent!
The big hits on here are absolutely outstanding and the rest kind of just guide you through and act as a bridge between the better songs. None of these songs are bad but they aren't anything mind blowing either. They fall into a decent to good category which makes this quite a consistent listen as there isn't any mediocre songs. The piano work is brilliant and Elton's singing is as phenomenal as ever with him giving his greatest ever performance on this album. This release is almost like a comfort record as you know you can stick it on and just enjoy as he has such an easy style of music to fall in love with. However, this record does not need to be this long in my opinion and could definitely be cut. Furthermore, whilst there are some outstanding tracks there isn't enough to put it amongst the truly elite of records. Overall, I love revisiting this album as Elton John has such a huge personality that just floods out of the record which makes it so easy to enjoy this album time and time again.

Great record
This album has everything I love about music. I enjoy listening to piano and a great vocalist. Great vocal harmonies backed by one of most underrated bands of all-time! A great mix in styles of music. I particularly love the hard rockers and the opening track! 100

This is not a perfect album but it is close enough that I have no issues saying it has to be one of the greatest of all time.
Magnificent singing, the best Elton album and his top songs are on here as well: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Candle In The Wind that are ones of thebest ever made, but 90% of the album is great. I can only complain about Jamaica Jerk-Off and Social Disease, they're not good.
