Midnight Oil definitley deserve a mention amongst Australian greats

Those last 3 are a joke and I'm sorry to see that they did get mentioned somehwere in this thread.

Not sure what you have already listened to - but I personally really like 'Liberty Belle', 'Before Hollywood' and '16 Lovers Lane'

I also really like 'The Triffids' and 'Dirty Three' but they probably lack the commercial success to be classed 'best export'!

I'll echo Manc Soul Sister and say I like some of the Go Betweens' stuff too, but I haven't heard a lot of it. Recommend me an album, MSS.

Also, there was some band a few years ago from Australia with the word "Yes"in their name that were supposed to be great. What are they called? It's something like, "Yes I Am" or something.

I kind of liked Men at Work in the 80's too. They were sort of like Australia's version of Madness who were also big at the time.

Out of the selections, I enjoy Nick Cave or INXS the most. In terms of commercial impact (& album sales), it'd probably be AC/DC (but I don't like them enough to vote for them).

NICK CAVE! Also Cave wrote the screenplay/music for The Proposition ***** (2004), a film set in the colonial Australian Outback. All-time second-best Western movie, which takes place in Australia!
