We're all gonna argue for what we love, so im gonna make the statement that electronic music is the most important musical development of the last 50 years. And these days it can be heard in rock, pop and particularly hip-hop. Also right now, electronics as a genre is ahead of rock, pop and rap.

Metal. The genre that's ahead of everything.

Good point, well made. But I prefer to rely on bias and blind prejudice. 😉

I've changed my mind. I think the Eurovision song contest is the most important musical development EVER.

It's definitely debatable. I may not have lived through the 60s, 70s, or 80s, but I'm still fairly certain the development of rock n' roll had a much bigger cultural impact during that time (as well as the 90s; I just didn't mention them because I lived through them).

Nowhere near enough hip-hop. Although it is a great chart. The emergence of hip-hop is the most important cultural event of the century, and the fact it remains underrated/ignored/slandered by so many never fails to frustrate me. But regardless, great chart.

The most important cultural event of the century? By what stretch of the imagination is that true?

Nice to see someone else who regards Midnight Marauders as the best Tribe album. Because it is.
