Well TSR didn't last long,I couldn't handle not having UTB as no1.But the expanding of my chart to 100 was tough,I don't think I'll ever perfect it.

It was hard accepting how much I liked In the Aeroplane Over the Sea - after some long thought it went from not being in my chart at all straight to number 5.

Also I get the bug with the aesthetics thing, sometimes I'll secretly move an album if it's the same colour as the one next to it. It used to bug me that Amnesiac and Turn on the Bright Lights were next to each other in the Overall chart, because the album covers are both black with a big red square in the middle - far too similar for my tastes.

My chart is as random as it is a good representation of my tastes. The difference between my favorite album and my 101st favorite album is so minimal that deciding which should be in 54 and 55 spots seems inconsequential.

Your chart need not be Divine Excellence. Maybe just go with your gut feeling and add albums you like and have listened to recently. Then you can tweek it later and achieve Divine Excellence 🤔

Same here. The live album is very good, but the studio album is totally awesome.

I have Automatic for the People at the top; but my #2, Days of Future Passed is the first album which I fell in love with. I first listened to it when I was 14 and it's always played a great role in my life since then. "Days of Future Passed" was always my answer to the question "What is your favorite album of all-time?". But when I joined BEA, I had spent the whole month listening to AFTP and I put the album at the top of my chart. But I've not thought about it too much and the order in my chart can easily be altered.

My current top 5

1. The Cure - Disintegration
2. The Cure - Faith
3. Elbow - Asleep In The Back
4. Muse - Absolution
5. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

I always have had Disintegration as my number 1. I flirted with Faith at 1 for a while but went back to ol' reliable. Both AITB and Absolution have been considered as number 1 before but not lasted as long. WYWH sits firmly at 5 and I think these 5 albums will remain at the top for some time. In Rainbows, Echolalia, Colour Of Spring, So and Ziggy Stardust round out my 10 and will probably remain that way. The order will change (might even do it now.)

It's hard to say the best of all time; probably a good thing if it does change.

Even simple shit like the aesthetic thing (like NOT putting two albums with the same color cover together hah... but then I change it back 'cause that's just silly).

Making my chart public. I want to, but I still want to listen to more styles, more countries, more music from the bands and artists that I have added, and just plain more music period. I feel like I am in a position where my music knowledge is incredibly inferior to everyone else here. That doesn't mean my tastes are. ...well maybe they are 😜
The easiest decision: putting Ummagumma at the #1 spot. I have never heard anything like it. I really do hope to find an album that's better, though.

There's a sharp contrast between the first two albums on my 1968 year chart, between the cover of The White Album's white cover and White Light/White Heat's black cover. It makes it look pretty good.

As for Ummagumma, it is one of my favorite Pink Floyd albums, I just like Saucerful and Piper slightly more. Have you heard those two?

I like this thread. I can kind of relate to what most people are saying.

Yeah, this pretty much describes my everyday life. I actually have what I feel is a pretty accurate formula for ranking my favorite albums based on a variety of factors, so once I input those factors I have Microsoft Excel calculate the results, and I just suck it up and accept whatever it tells me. Here are a few changes that I admit hurt me a little bit to make, but which I ultimately figured were probably accurate:

Putting Pinkerton ahead of Nevermind - For ages there were exactly two albums that I absolutely loved: A Night at the Opera and Superunknown. Nevermind was the first album that broke me out of that and made me realize that there is so much more amazing music to be discovered. For that reason, I always feel guilty when I put an album ahead of it, the most recent one being Pinkerton.

Taking OK Computer out of my top 10 - I absolutely loved OK Computer the first time I heard it. Unfortunately, unlike most albums, it hasn't grown on me one bit since then. I still love it, but unlike the rest of my favorite albums, each additional listen does very little for me.

And I never know for sure whether or not Doolittle or Dark Side of the Moon truly deserves the #3 spot on my chart.

LOL Same here.

Sometimes I make many different changes, then decide at some time that I must save the chart, then I look at my new chart, and it turns out that I made some bad moves, and then I go back and sorta "correct" it, and then I look at my new chart, and then I look at my list of albums that could make it to my chart, and I decide that I want some album from that list on my chart, and then I spend 10 minutes just thinking about which album to delete in order to get that album onto the chart, and then I get tired and save my chart and then after a few days the process happens again.

Well I recently put The Smiths self titled to the top of my chart in place of The Streets' OPM, it was hard but not at at the same time cos I love that album so much.

I guess my criteria is, if I could only listen to one album between now and forever what would it be, at current I'd choose The Smiths. I repeat this question to myself for the top 20 or so and then after that the chart is a mess with barely any order. So if you could only listen to one what would it be? The Stone Roses or Up The Bracket? I've got UTB 3 spaces higher but I've been thinking of a reshuffle so might be asking myself the same question in a bit.

The first album I fell in love with, and made me fall in love with music, was Nevermind. I think I only listened to Nirvana for about a year. The other albums I really loved as a teenager would be Original Pirate Material and Up The Bracket, they'll always be very high in my chart.

I know exactly how you feel. I also take the higher positions of my chart very seriously (the lower positions I really don't give two shits about). But the number one spot... for a while I moved OK Computer up to my number 1 over Pet Sounds, and it killed me. I moved Pet Sounds back a few weeks later. This wasn't the first time it had happened, either (between Pet Sounds and OKC). Going even farther back, I used to have Revolver as my top album (hence the name). As tough as it was, I've moved it down since then; at one point it was 5. My past self would have berated my current self, but I have to be honest with how I feel.

And also, Up The Bracket is fucking awesome. "Time For Heroes" is one of those rare songs that sounds good the first time you hear it and keeps getting better. I've always liked to describe their sound as a cross between the Strokes and the Clash... does anyone else think they sound that way? At least vocally.
