This is interesting; you know, I have "In the Court of the Crimson King", "Doolittle" and "After the Gold Rush" in my chart and also I love Remain in Light and Who's Next but I voted for Jimi 'cause I tried to be objective and you know I have a friend that hates Neil Young and thinks "In the Court of the Crimson King" is a piece of shit. And I've seen many people who don't like The Who and Pixies at all. But I haven't seen anyone who thinks Jimi is overrated. I myself don't listen to his albums that much (I like them but I don't listen to them too often) but I don't think he's overrated overall.

Based on BEA accepted opinion, it's got to be Talking Heads or Doolittle. I'm a little surprised to see Jimi (correct spelling) Hendrix leading this. I guess it's early though.

Actually, inspired by this thread I decided to listen to Remain In Light and... it's a lot better than I remembered.

It's a fun album so far.

But the fact that I don't consider them the 42 best band of all time at all, and definetily not better than those artists I mentioned surely makes them overrated to me? Give it time and that might change, but right now am I not entitled to consider them higher rated than they should be?

Well. The Talking Heads aren't over-rated whatsoever, but I voted for ITCOTCK. I don't think anyone complains about that one.

Personally, I think John Coltrane IS over-rated 🤣 . Mostly A Love Supreme.

Neil Young isn't over-rated. He's where he should be. Same with Doolittle. 😄

I'd like not to talk about skin colour, but actually all black artists who are not in hip hop. I never see negative comments towards any of these jazz men or soul singers.

I think all artists/albums you mention here are more or less overrated.

Jimi Hendrix has a handful of outstanding songs, but a lot of filler on all albums of his I've heard.
I judge him by his song-writing and not his guitar playing, at least not at this stage of my rock music-listening.

My favourite in the poll would be In The Court, which I'd even say I love, but it's overrated in the sense that it's not quite the prog masterpiece it's set out to be. The song structures on several of the tracks are too simple and repetitive for that. Plus there's Moonchild wich starts off beautifully and then, you know...

Doolittle is good but nowehere near as good as it's set out to be.

None of the other ones I really like (that's including Joy Division. ESPECIALLY Joy Division). If that's a problem with me not having the tools to appreciate them yet I do not know, but for now I'm slapping the overrated label on them so I can sleep well at night.
