i just said that because dp39 was talking about "dance" music, even if i've myself listed Bjork and the postal service, wich i absoluteny don't see myself dancing on one of them. the album you listed are more trip-hop and experimental-electro-rock (radiohead, Animal Collective). but i agree with Silent Shout

Anything associated with the Bristol scene is pure fucking gold to my ears:
Portishead-Dummy
Portishead-Third
Massive Attack-Mezzanine
Massive Attack-Protection
Massive Attack-Blue Lines
Tricky-Maxinquaye
Tricky-Angels with Dirty Faces
Bjork-Debut
Bjork-Post
Bjork-Homogenic
I highly suggest any listener have Dummy, Mezzanine, Maxinquaye, and Post if you absolutely have to choose between these; but really, all of these are worthy of being in someone's top ten.

From what I've heard, these are my favorite electronica listens of the 00s:
Radiohead-Kid A (not really electonica, but close enough)
Radiohead-Amnesiac (ditto)
The Knife-Silent Shout
Animal Collective-Strawberry Jam (also, not really true electronica)
Again, each of these records is solid gold; some people tend to prefer Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavillion, but I like Strawberry Jam better...
except Bjork, none of these are electronic
If you want to get picky, every one of these is electronic; most popular music is with the electric instruments. Also, every one of these is considered electronica, ortrip hop which is a subgenre of electronica.

But seriously, you can't listen to any of these and tell me every sound is live; alot of them incorporate live instrumentation, like guitars for Radiohead and drums for Animal Collective but every Bristol band recorded each basic sound for each instrument separately, jacked it up, made it cool, then mixed it. You will find no one playing guitar as a trip hop concert, but it's in the songs. And really, you think the Knife isn't electronic?

By the way, thank you for starting up arguments again 😄
I second these two. They both own.

I also love:
*Sepiamusic-Prototype
*Radiohead-Kid A (I know you've probably already listened to this, but I had to put it down)
*Tori Amos-From the Choirgirl Hotel (certain parts are highly electronic)
*Massive Attack-Mezzazine

And, of course, you can't forget classic electronic music such as Gary Numan, Kraftwerk, etc.

Most of what you're referencing isn't dance as much as electronic or in the case of Air more lounge, but that's what's great about electronic music it can come in a lot of different forms. So here are some wide ranging recommendations to give you a feel for what electronic/electronica has to offer, some of my favs:
