I didn't understand either, but I think it was a veiled question as to why people with lots of mod points are at the top of the list. People that mod are contributing heavily to the running of the site. Without them, there would be far less time for new features to be developed.

Did you actually run this through ANOVA and any hypothesis tests? because if you did, you would find a non-significant correlation...

Mod Points correlation with Total Score might be high enough to eliminate the other factors. Perhaps one day it will without webmaster input.
