When this album came out i loved it ,if i listen to it nowadays I dont have the patience anymore for the whole album but it remains a nice one

If BEA'ers dare to listen some heavy stuff, there's post-metal which is fusing elements of metal, post-rock and shoegaze and is being described as forward thinking metal which stays away from metal clichés. I know too little of it myself, but classic albums in the genre:

Isis - Panopticon
Cult of Luna - Somewhere Along the Highway
Neurosis - Through Silver in Blood
Pelican - The Fire in Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw
Rosetta - The Galilean Satellites
Russian Circles - Enter

Post rock is a genre that I wouldn't know how to characterize unless someone told me it was post rock, e.g. I've always considered Dirty Three as post rock, but apparently it is not. Many of the albums mentioned thus far are fantastic. My favorite album is Laughing Stock; my favorite group is Tortoise; my favorite musician is David Pajo (Slint, Tortoise, Aerial M, Papa M, Pajo).

But I came here to gripe. I think many of the albums labeled post rock since Lift Yr Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven have lifted that album's blueprint and abused it shamelessly. What made this imaginary genre so incredible in the '90s is the diverse and expansive set of influences that each group synthesized. Groups like Talk Talk and Tortoise were making landscapes. Many post rock groups today simply work for 10-20 minutes on a single drum/guitar climax. I still enjoy groups like Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, etc., but I want some damn structural variety (don't mean to sound like yourselfisntsteam). The Canadian/Constellation scene is decent, but compared to the emotiveness of even minor acts like Labradford, they are soulless (excepting F#A#). I suppose I'm frustrated with it because it might be my favorite genre, and I want to see its quality maintained.

Finally, I look forward to going through everyone's picks that I haven't heard before, namely yourselfisntsteam's and Norman's.

Yes, I'd say so. Very drum heavy and uses guitars but in order to create something very expansive and conceptual.
