I think this post could have been clearer. When I first saw the topic heading I automatically presumed it was a Beatles Vs. Replacements album thread, never even considered Let It Be...Naked.

I like let it be by the replacements best. My idea of a nice well balanced album between catchy, slower paced songs and punk rooted songs.

Okay, this is how I'll do it. Track by track...

Track: Two of Us
Let It Be #1 - Let It Be... Naked #5
Let It Be pros: The live intro from the Rooftop concert
Let It Be... Naked pros: Slightly easier to hear the drums.
Verdict: Hardly any difference, but the album's mood partly comes from the intros and outtros from the rooftop concert, so the better is the Let It Be version.

Track: Dig A Pony
Let It Be #2 - Let It Be... Naked #2
Let It Be pros: The false start from the Rooftop concert
Let It Be... Naked pros: Cleaner sound
Verdict: I'll have to say the Let It Be... Naked version. The sound is cleaner and thus makes the track better.

Track: Across The Universe
Let It Be #3 - Let It Be... Naked #10
Let It Be pros: The psychedelic background music behind the regular instruments makes you fly... across the universe. These were partly removed on the Naked version
Let It Be... Naked pros: None, really
Verdict: Partly removing the dream effect was a mistake. The Let It Be version is without any doubt the best.

Track: I Me Mine
Let It Be #4 - Let It Be... Naked #9
Let It Be pros: Same as Across The Universe.
Let It Be... Naked pros: The guitar can be heard more easily.
Verdict: Obviously the Let It Be version. The Naked version is rawer, but loses the dreaming psychedelic effect.

Track: Dig It
Let It Be #5 - not on Let It Be... Naked
Verdict: Removing Dig It was a good idea, so it goes to Let It Be... Naked

Track: Let It Be
Let It Be #6 - Let It Be... Naked #11
Let It Be pros: More dreamy
Let It Be... Naked pros: The voice is not hidden. You can hear it much better, without much loss of dream effect.
Verdict: The Let It Be... Naked version is the best. The singing is clearer - I suppose this is exactly what McCartney wanted

Track: Maggie Mae
Let It Be #7 - not on Let It Be... Naked
Verdict: Removing Maggie Mae was also a good idea, so it goes to Let It Be... Naked

Track: I've Got A Feeling
Let It Be #8 - Let It Be... Naked #6
Let It Be pros: Rooftop outtro
Let It Be... Naked pros: No difference, really
Verdict: I like the rooftop concert stuff, so it'll have to be Let It Be

Track: One After 909
Let It Be #9 - Let It Be... Naked #7
Let It Be pros: Rooftop outtro, raw sound
Let It Be... Naked pros: "Rounder" or "softer" sound.
Verdict: Weather I like it raw or soft changes all the time - both versions are great, but, well... ROOFTOP! Let It Be

Track: The Long And Winding Road
Let It Be #10 - Let It Be... Naked #4
Let It Be pros: Does it being original count?
Let It Be... Naked pros: Less orchestral, makes it less sentimental; the bass sounds better
Verdict: The Let It Be... Naked version is clearly the best, it's really a back-to-roots song - as the project was intended to be. A piano, a bass and some drums. Not all the sentimental strings.

Track: For You Blue
Let It Be #11 - Let It Be... Naked #3
Let It Be pros: The bass!
Let It Be... Naked pros: The voice is clear, you can actually hear what the man sings
Verdict: I think, I'll have to say Let It Be... Naked - the bass is less audible, but I like knowing what he sings

Track: Get Back
Let It Be #12 - Let It Be... Naked #1
Let It Be pros: "She thought she was a cleaner, but she was a frying pan" - funny intro. "I'd like to say thank you on behalf of myself and the group and I hope we passed the audition" - elegant farewell.
Let It Be... Naked pros: None, really
Verdict: The intro and outtro on the Let It Be version are priceless

Track: Don't Let Me Down
Not on Let It Be - Let It Be... Naked #8
Verdict: This track does not belong on Let It Be. It's the B-side to Get Back and nothing but a B-side. So it's one for Let It Be

Then there's the fly-on-the-wall stuff on Let It Be... Naked. But as it is not relevant for the musical experience, I'll forget that now. I wouldn't, however, be able to decide whether it's a pro or con. Of course it's a part of the Beatles history, but it doesn't belong on an album. It's documentary stuff.

This leaves us with:
Let It Be 7 - Let It Be... Naked 6

Verdict: Let It Be is the best version. The rooftop stuff and the dream effects outweighs the cleaner sound and leaving out some of the strings. Thank you for this topic. Now I know which one I like the best and can cast my vote on Let It Be.

I like Let It Be... Naked better because a) the track listing makes more sense, IMO and b) it has "don't let me down."

I'm pretty indifferent about Spector's production, actually. (In this case, on other songs/albums he could be spectacular, my personal favorite being "Then He Kissed Me." But I digress.)

I'm actually embarrassed to admit I've never listened to the Replacements album in its entirety, probably something I should do.

Let It Be Naked transformed a Beatles song I absolutely hated to a song that had some merit: The Long and Winding Road. Worst song ever and couldn't make it through it before, but now I almost am starting to like it.

Overall, I do miss some elements from the original, but naked wins out. Plus, when does naked not win out... well unless it isn't pleasing.

I tend to stay away from Let It Be. It's a decent album by most standards, but as a follow-up to Sgt. Pepper, White Album, and Abbey Road, I just never have reason to listen to it when I could listen to one of those three masterpieces instead.
