I hate when youtube videos have the wrong cover art. I agree a little with "Light My Fire".

Songs that come to mind:

Come Together - Primal Scream
Five Years - David Bowie
All Around the World - Oasis
I Want You (She's So Heavy) - The Beatles
Us & Them - Pink Floyd
Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon and Garfunkel
Vertical Pig - The Future Sound of London
The Chemistry Between Us - Suede

..and many more probably!
The beginning is lame, then it becomes the greatest thing ever from 3:30 or so (I love pompous shit, my chart has hardly anything else). In fact the entire Days of Future Passed album bugs me - so many unbelievable highs, so many horrible lows. Had they managed to keep the hights going for the entire playtime, it would be my favorite album

Many prog rock songs spring to mind for this thread

As for a song where I disliked the start but enjoyed the end. King Of Carrot Flowers Parts 2 & 3, although I usually just skip the song anyway.

-Stairway to Heaven as people mentioned
-Cloud Nothings - No Future/No Past (a FANTASTIC climax here, could also go to the "best moments" thread)
-Built to Spill - Kicked It in the Sun
-Talk Talk - Taphead (not that it isn't fantastic already in the beginning)
-Grizzly Bear - Central and Remote
-Deerhunter - He Would Have Laughed
-Björk - 5 Years
-Swans - A Piece of the Sky

can't remember a song where I would dislike a beginning, but love the end.. But I'm sure there are some...

Original post about Gimme Shelter.

Although I agree the song is amazing all the way through, I will have to agree that it gets better as it progresses. Nobody said it has to suck and get better.

This went from amazing to fuck ya!

Agreed. Except the last few minutes of those ear-piercing distorted sounds. I always have it turned up extra loud so I always leap out of my skin when they come on. It's always good to hear a Christian musician repeatedly exclaim how he's not fuckin' around.

Could argue that Paranoid Android and No Surprises fall into this category as well.

Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, Octavarium, The Count of Tuscany, the Twelve-step Suite as a whole, and possibly A Change of Seasons all do this for me as well. I'm not sure about ACoS because I love all seven movements, but there's certainly an argument to be made that The Crimson Sunset makes an epic, perfect finale. The same goes for how The Shattered Fortress finishes off the Twelve-step Suite.

That's probably my favorite part of any song, of course Trucker's atlas isn't my favorite song, but it just contains my favorite segment (and my favorite drumbeat).

disagree, the first segment is the only part that's really good. the rest is mediocre, but the production is appealing and it's a three-part song, so everyone goes crazy.

the one that I think of immediately is "Exit Music (For a Film)." Also "Rock n Roll Suicide" by Bowie.
