Butch Walker IMO is by far the most underrated singer/songwriter of the modern era. So much so that i doubt anyone in this treat will know who he is. A great rock singer that is one of the few who have never released a bad album

Also Barenaked Ladies are not taken seriously enough, easily one of the best pop rock bands of the last 20 years. 'Call and Answer', 'War on Drugs' and 'Break Your Heart' are brilliant serious songs

Dax Riggs - The former frontman of Acid Bath who now makes southern rock with the spirit of the crazy sludge metal he was once involved with
Julian Cope - He had some radio hits in the 80's with The Teardrop Explodes and then his solo project, before fading into obscurity. He's now an expert on neolithic Britain and composes ambient and psychedelic music themed around the ancient rites of druidic England.
Sigurd Wongraven - The frontman of popular Black Metal band Satyricon, his best work was his ambient album Fjelltronen, released under the name Wongraven, which is still the greatest fantasy ambient album ever made. His Black Metal is awesome too - and while some people think his newer black'n'roll stuff is trite, his whole career is still undeniably full of well written music.
Douglas Pearce - He is Death In June. He has been making excellent post-punk, industrial, folk and recently piano music since the 80's, and he may just be my favourite musician so you should check him out.

I would love to start an entire forum section about Grouper, but like having one forum dominated by a singular narrow theme is not healthy.
