They've recovered from their beat-down by Beyonce, and released another poppy gem. I'm still working out my full opinion, but initial listening seems promising.

I might. It's on Netflix, but I've been watching episodes of Classic Albums instead. Good show.

My Canadian bands, the only two I know are Canadian, are Finger Eleven, once called Rainbow Butt Monkeys, and Rush. Both good bands.

I just re-discovered these guys the other day:

Lowest of the Low were a alternative pop-rock group form the late 80s, early 90s CanRock scene. Sometimes silly, often clever, but really good at crafting stinging lyrics and memorable hooks.

My Canadiana plug for the day:

Anyone who's after recent releases or modern artists in Canada could do much worse than checking out the nominees and winners of the Polaris music prize. I usually turn my nose up at the idea artistic awards (Grammys... 🧱 ) but the Polaris awards judge by quality, not sales. Nickleback and Justin Beiber will never even get nominated. The 2012 winner was Feist for Metals, but the nominees included: Cadence Weapon, Cold Specks, Drake, Kathleen Edwards, Fucked Up, Grimes, Handsome Furs, Japandroids, and Yamantaka/Sonic Titaan. Previous winners include: Caribou, Fucked Up, Arcade Fire...

Either way - it's a good intro to what decent in Canada.

I saw him last year (2011) at Canada Day Downsview Park (maybe it was the year before). Definitely entertaining but I don't think I would ever get into his music.
