Not as many as I'd like. Now that I'm getting to the point where the amount of music I've heard is approaching one shit ton, it's getting harder and harder to find new music that I genuinely like. Which really bums me out :/

When this thread started my process was listening to a couple songs on youtube, buying the cd on amazon, and waiting for it to come in to listen. So i'd only listen to a handful of new albums per month. But I recently subscribed to rdio in my quest to listen to way more new albums in 2013 than I did in 2012. I've been listening to about 3 new albums (to me) per day, mostly 2010-2013 and mixing in some older stuff. For only 5 bucks a month I think it's well worth it.

It changes a lot. Yesterday I heard 4 new albums. But it's a lot compared to my usual standard. I don't think I can come up with a specific number. I often have to swallow the album and listen to it constantly in a week.

Nowhere near as many as I would prefer, 15 or so. Using good resources and reviewers like BEA to screen albums helps though.

Usually I listen to about 1-2 per day but lately I've been listening to about 5-6 per day. I've been listening to albums with a voracious appetite. Not always different albums though. Sometimes I'll listen to an album about 3 times in one week to really get to know it.

I used 2012 to check out a lot of new music, as well as to continue my ongoing education in music from all decades. I'm using 2013 to listen to as much newly released music as possible (I'm unemployed and have nothing better to do). So far I've heard maybe 50 albums released this year, as well as a decent chunk of stuff I've missed in the past decade or so, not to mention old favourites that I just feel like hearing from time to time (I've been listening to a lot of Fela recently, for example). So yeah, I maybe listen to 60 or 70 albums a month at the moment (about two a day on average - some days maybe just one, but others four or five), and about 90-95% of those are new to my ears.

2-5 a week maybe.

I'm in a period where I haven't heard a brilliant album in a long time, so I'm reluctant to try something new - though I understand that should be the other way around. I should have a "New Albums Wednesday" or something where I only listen to new stuff.

I listened to maybe 5 - 15 new releases in January, but it really depends on the month and how I feel how many new albums I listen to.

new releases, about 10-20 a month like a lot of people. For Jan: asap, ra riot, delphic, everything*2, pissed jeans, kloot, yim yames, local natives, nosaj, pere ubu, joy formidable, torress, YLT, courteeners, foxygen, free energy and i don't remember if i heard tegan&sara in jan or feb..

That's not counting a run of older stuff i like to sprinkle in-between for variety.

I don't discover a whole lot of albums. The main reason is that I mostly listen to albums which I have expectations to, something that I imagine that I'd like to listen to in the future. I realise that you can be surprised by a random album (which I also have been on occasions), but I'm pretty good to predict whether I'll like an album. Therefore I rarely pick albums up just to hear what they may sound like. I'm not interested in hearing all music, I'm interested in hearing good music. I also like to spend time with the albums I know and like already. So it's probably around 10-20 new albums per month. Last month I listened to 26 new albums (by new I mean new to my ears, not necessarily newly released)

It really depends on when me & my record buying mates can get together to buy new (as in don't already have them rather than new releases) albums. Maybe buy 20 - 30 albums a month. Just catching up on 2012 releases that passed me by @ the time. As for listening habits. i generally listen to anything up to 10 new albums @ a time (yes, I have quite a lot of time on my hands). Then over the next few days, go back to the one's that had something interesting & revisit these. There are some albums that I have only ever heard once but I still keep them just in case I want to revisit them & find a gem that I missed 1st time round.

Older albums I've never heard around 15 a month.

I've listened to Up The Bracket at least once a week since I was 14,so I reckon that's well over 200 listens 😲 😨

I've listened to each of my top 10 over 100x, at least (minus Have One On Me all the way through). Of the albums that I mentioned above, I've already listened to Women, Soft Moon, Grouper, Sarah Black, Grizzly Bear, Best Coast, and TV On the Radio upwards of 30x, in the past couple of months. Step up your game, son.
