Thought I'd have a fine solo Valentine's day, just ignore it, sit at home, play video games. Cleaning out a drawer, I found a penny. It was gold and I was confused. I thought and remembered my chem teacher offered to "use alchemy on any pennies you want me to" (really just bronze it). Laughed at my confusion and put it down. Then it occurred to me why I had him bronze that specific penny.

I turned it over and absolutely fell apart.

The day I decided I liked the girl I first seriously fell for, we were in Great America. She wanted to push a penny, and me being the nerd I am, I saw that it had the old back and stopped her. It was a 1952 penny as it turned out, and I thought it'd be worth something. So I spent 15 minutes scouring the park for another penny, found one, and traded with her. I hung on to the penny, as I found out it was worth between $5 and $7. Also because it was a memory of the day I decided I liked her, but I assumed those feelings would pass at some point, like they always did.

Fastforward 4 and a half years of on and off liking her, 2 failed attempts at relationships, and countless time spent thinking of her, and I found the penny again. I'd tried to give it to her on our 1 month anniversary, but she wouldn't take it. She thought it meant more to me. Months later, I gave it to the chem teacher to mark it to make sure I could hang on to it. I was convinced I could win her back some day. I still haven't.

It's not even that I like her still now, I don't think, but finding that old thing just crippled me. It was just such a rush of emotion ... everything came back in a second.

It was a holiday yesterday at our school (because of some other reason 😜 ) I didn't do anything having to do with Valentine's, and stayed at home the whole day.

BTW, opened the newspaper today and saw a story about a fight between two groups (one hilariously celebrating "Modesty Day" as a protest against Valentine's Day and the other celebrating, well, Valentine's Day) SMH

I don't think I'd have the courage to go that far, lmfao.

It really was us acting like idiots to see how people reacted though.

-In school, the claps seemed slightly sarcastic, but otherwise it was the best reaction. Mostly cheers, with just one shout of "y'all niggas gay as fuck"
-In the mall, one woman said "Only cause it's Valentine's Day". And several people laughed at us.
-We went inside Condom World holding hands (DANGER ZONE). We immediately felt uncomfortable (especially since we're not 18) and left.
-In the Train Station, I was laughed at. And that was the least gay thing I did.

Ooooh, I love putting flowers in my hair. 😁 Though it kind of messes with my allergies. 😨

well I never celebrated this day but a very good friend of mine called me up from Italy, and he wished me Happy Valentine's Day, so lovely
after work I was watching Olympics figure skating's men final, it was shit, I expected more than this, but at least I bet and won ca. two dollars soo it wasn't that a bad day at all
