Agree. I don't think there needs to be anything more than there is as the moment. A hall of shame will not serve any real purpose, and the people that have been banned don't need any more attention than they have had already.

This will just cause more of a 'mystery' around banned users. Joj and Gary have already been immortalised among the BEA community but were really banned for legitimate reasons that did not deserve congratulations.

I wouldn't say giving them their own list is glamorizing them, but all in all this idea has more cons that pros.

Really, we don't need to have a special list of banned users and what led to their banning or whatever was suggested, that's more likely to encourage bad behavior than prevent it. I wasn't involved in the descisions that led to any banned user, but I can bet a pretty penny that they probably got multiple warnings expliciting stating what they were doing wrong and that it could lead to them being banned from the site if their behavior didn't improve. I think anybody doing something bad enough that could lead to a future baning won't all of a sudden just wake up one day without a BEA account without a notice. And I don't think BEA should glamorize the bad behavior with a memorial for banned members; as always, what makes this site great is the focus on the positive, and this would just be a step backwards and just isn't necessary.

Yes, any banning is controversial, as while there's a clear set of site rules those can always be up for different interpretations. While one user may rub many the wrong way, they're likely to get defenders as well saying what they're doing isn't worthy of a ban, even though that's not really their decision. However, Ive seen ban-happy forums and often making a public display of banned users only really seemed to encourage more copycats rather than "scaring" or helping to prevent users from engaging in bad behavior. BEA has shown to look on the bright side of things, and that should be continued, and glamorizing the "outlaws" won't really help it move forward.

The AC/DC thing's only a joke. I don't really feel that way about them. I like them. But Gary shouldn't be a martyr to ANYONE. And Hitler, UGH!

Well, to be fair (and I don't care much for this idea, purple just made an interesting remark), I would assume most people were being facetious of remembering the days of Gary, at least I was.
