If they broke up after LZ2, then yeah 100% of their music would be good, it's like if the Beatles never broke up, and made lesser albums after that, they would be held in lower regard. Just think if The Rolling Stones broke up after Exile on Mainstreet, they would be held in higher regard. NMH broke up at the right time.

That's exactly like saying Led Zeppelin would be a great band if they only had two albums. Just because you made two great albums and no other albums doesn't mean your a better band. But they were great for what they had, I'll give then that.

I think that Modest Mouse and Built to Spill would be a better comparison. They sound much more similar than NMH does.

Yes, and I said on the last page that I thought Aeroplane is better than any MM album. But I don't think it is quite fair to frame the conversation as "quality vs quantity" when both bands have made great albums.

Modest Mouse has arguably made 3 or 4 times as many "quality" albums as NMH. NHM has Aeroplane, but that's really it.

In The Aeroplane Over The Sea is better than any Modest Mouse album, in my opinion. But I voted for Modest Mouse because they are more consistently good. The Lonesome Crowded West and The Moon & Antarctica are nearly as good as ITAOTS.

Modest Mouse are probably technically much better artists, but I'd prefer ITAOTS over all of Modest Mouse's albums combined.

I vote Modest Mouse by far. I like multiple albums of theirs... Neutral Milk Hotel... Aeroplane didn't leave me wanting more. It wasn't bad, but not as amazing as folks said it would be.

NMH's 2 albums arrange out to a 9.5 for me, and the 5 of modest mouse's studio albums average out to 7.5.....so still Neutral Milk Hotel.
