Really? I think it's so much stronger. As it should be, since it's a best-of in a way. Well, to each his own, I guess.

I like his debut, it's quite alright, but I much prefer the equally legendary "Elvis' Golden Records", his first compilation album. Now THAT one is packed with classics! 😄

Okay. I'm not totally sure as to why the 57th anniversary is so important in itself, but it's a smashing record. I have loved it from first listen, and I daresay I knew I loved it entirely after a few sconds. The songs are great, some are unforgettable, the singing is extraordinary, and it's probably the record that has the best song beginnings I've ever heard. These attacks are incredible. I can't even begin to imagine how it must have felt spinning this on for the first time as a 15-year old kid in '56. A life-changing experience, I reckon. Okay, just to get this back in point, I did get a chance to listen to this album in full during my dinner ( not hard to do as it 29 minutes long) and here's my little not review, but rather just my thoughts on it....

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley

The cover.... Classic and iconic almost as much because if the clash as because of this. But I really dig it!

The guitar playing by Scotty Moore is super cool all through the record. Especially on the opener "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Tutti Frutti". Scotty Moore is sorta one of the quintessential rock and roll guitarists. That is one thing I lived about the record.

The vocals are great. Obviously.

The songwriting is dated, it's all covers, not a thing that mr Presley said basically is his own. It's all in just the way he does it that makes it his own.

The love song ballad "I Love You Because" is just one of my all time favorite love songs. I want that played at my wedding some day.

There is definitely some tracks that seem to be filling in space. Despite how short the album is, there is some filler here. Particularly towards the end in my opinion.

Overall I just wanna say I really enjoyed it. It's a beautiful day here in STL and I was walking around and this record just fit the mood. I think this is not quite as good as Please Please Me, but it's pretty close.

It's a 8.3/10

I didn't know either, but we also call it "Matematik" here in Denmark, which looks more like "Mathematic" than "Mathematics". Confusing language!

I can easily get obsessed with stuff like this too: "OMG.. that album has anniversary today.. oh, jeez.. that album has anniversary on wednesday.. no way, that album can't already reach 30 on saturday!", but sometimes you need to be patient and wait for a more amazing either album or anniversary-number. 😄

Nah, nobody cares for Dark Side of the Moon. Though, according to Wikipedia, first released the 24th march in UK, it also says that the album was released the 1 march in US. I don't know which date to follow, but since Pink Floyd are English, I guess it's okay for you to make another anniversary thread, if you absolutely have to.. but again, nobody cares! 🤣

..NO WAY! Just found out that King Crimson's Larks' Tongues in Aspic was released exactly 40 years ago today. Interesting that those two albums were released so close. See, it's easy to get obsessed with anniversaries! 😜

As far as even numbers, it's the 30th anniversary today of ZZ Top's break out hit album "Eliminator"! That's not as cool an album, buuuut and even number.

Are you thinking these should only be for good even numbers or aesthetically pleasing numbers like 10, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50 etc? Those are ALOT more rare especially if only taking really classic records.
