I can see what DLGGLD is saying. If you do 37th anniversary or 16th or 53rd etc then what separates this from album of the day?

What you could do then (and you may have already done this) is look at every year that ends with a 3 or an 8. For example by looking at 1968 I saw that it will be Simon and Garfunkel's Bookends' 45th anniversary on April 3rd. On April 8th it will be the 5th Anniversary of Cut Copy's In Ghost Colours (2008). On April 12th it'll be the 30th Anniversary of REM's Murmur (1983). On April 20th it'll be the 15th anniversary of Boards Of Canada's Music Has The Right To Children (1998).
And this was all by looking up the years listed. Granted it may be difficult to find an album for every day but it might not be impossible.

Just an idea. Whatever you decided to do, it's still a great idea.

No, I agree it can become very subjective. For example tomorrow the highest rated album I've found that is celebrating its anniversary is Thin Lizzy's Jailbreak. Now that happens to be one of my all time favorites. But is it a terribly important or adored album? No. Is the anniversary remotely interesting as a number? No, it's 37 for Christs sakes. Woud I like to take this chance to have people discuss this record, give their opinions in it, re listen to it if they want due to its "birthday"? Yes yes and yes.

So I am left with that issue. Who will think it's annoying and who won't? And will it just be ignored? Maybe. Probably. Has anyone cared about the anniversary of Band Of Gypsys but me so far, nope not really. But it is one of the greatest live albums ever! (IMO obviously)

Also in a few days there is a day that features 3 really classic albums anniversaries in 3 totally different genres. Including the debut by one of the most important rap groups ever. What so I do then? Which do I feature?

Anyway, that's my thoughts on it. Let me know if you have any ideas. And if you hate the idea let me know.

Hmm.... I noticed that too. For DSOTM, I do specify that the 24th was its UK release date and March 1st was the US release. This is per Wiki. Now I have also noticed an absence of data on some albums. Like I can't for the life of me get a release date for Daydream Nation. I get the month and the year but never the day. Very strange.
Ill try to make sure this is legit before posting.

The only thing would be that perhaps the title is too long (even though i know you pretty much used exactly the format I suggested) it comes up in the thread list like this: "This Date In Music (24/03): Dark Side of The Moon 40th Anniv" so perhaps you might want to change the wording, I don't know.

But yeah, like I said, it looks great.

As for your presentation. On the Please Please Me thread You have a picture of the album cover and a link to its page on BEA. The only things I would recomend are this:
make your thread titles a bit more formal (like the album of the day ones) something like: This Date In Music (21/03): Surfer Rosa - the 25th Anniversary
find your own wording of course as that's just an example. Also don't put your opinion of the album in the first post, just put the album's information.

Once the full release dates are captured for the albums already on the site, we could then look at adding anniversary alerts and so forth. You know, the more I think about it, the better it becomes.

To be honest, I understand what was bothering me previously, it was the title. If you made it the way jhereko suggested, i'd be a lot more excited for it.
