I gave away all of my physical media. My entire collection is MP3 320 kbps albums arranged by year and then artist.

Biographically based on when and where I was when I bought the stuff... so it's sort of chronological but not really!

Alphabetically by artist then chronologically. I used to just stack them but now I'm organized and I have shelving.

Double this, as I too had my about 300 cds organized alphabetically then album chron, but then I got rid of all my cds and just have 14,103 songs, 39.1 days, and 110.47 GB of music on my computer and my vinyl collection isn't big enough to sort, so I just have it so that the one on the top is the first next to listen to.

You know when I was a teenager I had my Abbey Road and Joshua Tree vinyl on the wall, I don't know why I didn't do this as an adult, until pearljammer reminded me of how badass it is. At the same time I just bought this place, and the only room with anything on the walls is my band room with the vinyl sleave on the wall... priorities... haha!

I try my best to keep it to the date of release with my physical copies, but that's not easy on digital, so it's alphabetical from then on within the years.

I built a system of shelves in the coat closet for my CDs. They're on shelves roughly by genre, then by artist, then by year. I've weeded out a lot due to space so I'm down to about 300-400 CDs.

I've digitized everything into mp3s. I have it split into folders by genre, then by artist, then by album chronologically. I have it on a portable hard drive and I'm paranoid about losing it so I manually back everything up on another portable hard drive every month or so.

This. Change 300 to 1500, and that's exactly it. I also have everything in a J River program.

Alphabetically by Artist and then chronologically for each artist. I think it's a marvelous system.

Alphabetically by artist within genres. Over 3000 CDs so it is important to organize.

All CDs on CD shelves in alphabetical order by artist an then alphabetical by CD, except with larger discographies, then i put em in chronological by that artist. I do that for my 60 something Dylan and 25 Waits, and just the big discographies. I'm out of space, so the last 120ish are just stowed away in a shelf in my room. The other 1000ish are perfectly organized (last I checked)
My records are just stacked, I only have like 60.
And I even have 30 or so tape cassettes ( haha) somewhere getting dusty in 2 of those old school tape holders.

I need another couple cd shelves!

A completely filled 160gb iPod classic, and completely filled 800gb laptop, and another completely filled terabyte external hard drive. Everything is organized and with album covers. I am OCD as fuck
