I went with happy, although my definition of happy music is probably different to most peoples, as I often get people telling me that the music I like is depressing, when I find it fun and entertaining.

It all depends on the enviornment and mood. In a social situation, I prefer more upbeat music, but since there's been a lot of late-night solitary listening sessions recently, Ive drifted towards music's more depressing side. Usually I like something in between, bittersweet is perhaps the best way to describe it.
There are things to be sad about sometimes, but I mean, happier just feels better. Sadness has its place and time, but I don't really understand the "it's cool to be sad" thing. Not trying to say that applies to any of you, but there are certainly some people who fall into that categorization.

Is that actually a thing? I suppose I don't really understand it either.

but it's not that I don't like happy music at all.
The most music I like is accedentially sad music, like Radiohead, most songs by Muse, Soundgarden etc.

I voted sad music, mainly because I think the best albums are more sad-song-heavy than happy-song-heavy, but the truth is that the ABSOLUTE best albums have some of both (though still more sad songs). I just think an overly happy sound can get tiresome very quickly, but it can really lighten the mood of an album and keep it from getting too slow and contemplative (which makes it easier to digest in one sitting).

The majority of music I write tends to be pretty upbeat, but usually in a minor key with lyrics ranging from one end of the emotional spectrum to the other, so I don't think I have any particular tendency there.
