Let's see if this one beats the 90's for me.

To be honest, I haven't had the same experience with this decade as many, a lot of the albums people like I really don't like. Perhaps it's just me, but I love a lot of the hidden gems lying around. 2013 has given my overall chart 2 albums so far, and they're pretty amazing.

According to my top 100, I should say the 70s (25 albums), but it's not that easy. There's the mindblowing run of The Beatles and Bob Dylan in the 60s, the rise of prog rock in the early 70s, heavy metal reaching new heights in the 80s, and Radiohead kicking ass in the 90s and 00s, to name some examples. Maybe I'll go with the 70s anyway, as I generally love the average early-to-mid 70s production values. But no definitive answer from me!

I come here every day, but I haven't had very much to say. Sadly things have only gotten worse since my last remaining grandparent was laid to rest on April 15th. Yesterday was my mom's birthday and even though we did go out to dinner, the day was pretty much ruined when we got word around noon that one of our aunts had passed away a few hours earlier. 🙁 🙁 🙁

The best decade is the one we're currently in,it makes up 30% of my overall chart and I can only see that increasing.What I love about this decade is that the tags of genres are slowly becoming indistinguishable and artists are experimenting with different sounds and improving on older ones,yes this has always been happening but right now it's snow balling.What we have in 2013 is a musical landscape so varied and eclectic that anything is possible and artists can easily get a cuban rapper to spit on a track after a few messages being exchanged on twitter,was that possible even 5 years ago,probably not. .The internet is a huge part of this,everyone has the means to create music once they have an internet connection and a laptop and you get incredible bedroom artists(although that phrase doesn't do justice to their art) and I can only imagine that their are geniuses out there whom have made music that they couldn't have back in the day,for instance the great artists that call BEA home.Could probably go on all day and talk shite about this,i'll spare ye the grief though.

I can say with pretty much absolute certainty that there were fewer shitty albums released in the '30s than in any decade since.

In much the same way that studies have shown that people who never smoke pot have approximately a 0% chance of cooking a baby at some point in their lives.

Of course there is always the argument of who really gets that money, the creator without whom there would be no music or the record company execs without whom there would be less interference between quality music and quality listeners.

Radiohead had made their album In Rainbows available for free legal download for a month before releasing the physical CD copy and the album sale were not negatively impacted ... there clearly is something interesting happening in regards to the phenomenon of music piracy and how it affects the industry.

But from a single individual point and morality point of view, there is no question it is stealing.

The example you gave about giving a book to a friend, it compares only as long as when you give your friend the copied MP3 you delete it from your own computer, otherwise it is something else and despite whatever you say you do get benefit from it otherwise why would you be doing it.
