Don't get me wrong, this game allowed me to re-evaluate Yuck positively, and I'm not saying it's bad - I was pleasantly surprised by the re-discover. But I can't shake off the feeling that everything they do has been done, and better, before. Now, that's maybe just me with my 90s indie obsession (Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth, Pavement, are among my heroes), and I definitely can imagine the appeal to younger audiences, but I can't see it being more interesting than The Suburbs, which is not a perfect album, but is still more appealing and personal IMO.

It's a great revival of noise pop, noise rock, shoegaze, takes the influences from all the right bands, and makes something great of their own with that. I can't give you an analysis of what is "so great" in Yuck, it's a fairly straightforward album, but for what it's worth, it worked for me. And contrary to what you could expect, it has grown on me after several listens. On the other hand I thought The Suburbs was a very good album, but with exception of a couple of tracks, I'd rather just listen to Funeral again.

Rer-listened to Yuck for the game, it was better than I remembered. I still think The Suburbs has the edge though. The Suburbs then.

Suburbs will lose because I voted for it. Every album that I have voted for to date has lost.

If you want to know what albums are the most popular on BEA it's the ones I don't like apparently.

Honestly I'm surprised that so many people are surprised that Yuck is winning this. Sure The Suburbs is a wildly popular album on BEA, but it's nowhere near as popular with the users active in the forums. I can't even estimate the number of times I've read on these forums that Arcade Fire is massively overrated (don't totally disagree). Yuck is pretty well liked around here from what I've seen too.

The Suburbs is great, but for me it's too easy. Yuck is a great noisy indie experience so I chose that one. I think they're winning just because everyone knew they were going to lose 😕

I'm really surprised that Yuck is winning, but in a good way. The Suburbs is a really average album for me, and one that has quite a bit of filler, and is nowhere near deserving its place in the top 50. Although, having said that, I still enjoy the Suburbs, but think Yuck is the superior album.

Well, this really seems unfair to me. People go listen to both albums. Suburbs with 5 or 6 of the best pop tunes of the decade should lose to a mostly monotonous and sonically unimaginative album (you'll see what I'm talking about if this band releases another album)?

I really like Yuck, but I have to admit that's it's a little heartbreaking to see what's happening right now. Oh well, at least it was unexpected.
