For me Highway 61 and Bringing It All Back Home will always be really close for me, but Highway 61 slightly takes it. After those two I'd say Blood On The Tracks is next. And while I do really like Blonde On Blonde, I've always found it a bit overrated.

@ Bork - I completely agree with you that Blood on the Tracks was his finest hour, but there was so much greatness from the most prolific songwriter ever! What can anyone say about perhaps the greatest poet of the 20th century? All I know is that I am lucky to have heard his poetic muse, and recognized his genius for many decades.

Blonde on Blonde for me, but of course Dylan has had such an amazing career that might not mean much. Truly a legend: I need to pick up more of his albums, but I definitely have enough to proclaim him one of the greatest artists of all time.

I've actually forgotten how many times I've seen him live. It's around 21 or 22 times. And I've met people who have seen him over 500 times, which is clearly a ridiculous thing to do. People genuinely pack in their day job with the intention of following Bob Dylan around the world. Fucking idiots. I don't know what my favourite Dylan album is. Highway 61 is the one on my chart, so I'll say that. There's seven or eight I'd find it difficult to live without, not least of all John Wesley Harding and Nashville Skyline. Those two are just incredible. This might be my favourite Bob Dylan song (I don't know for sure though, it's like picking your favourite child):

The second best artist of all time. Blood on the Tracks is his finest hour, but it is closely followed by Highway 61, Desire, Nashville Skyline, and Bringing It All Back Home. Musically he hasn't been all that interesting the last 30-something years, but yeah...Happy Birthday to His Bobness.
