My new band is recording a 3 song EP... maybe something from that could be for the second compilation release pending on how long this takes.

Haha, as in John Cage's? You know my brother, who is a conductor, music director of Woodstock Chamber Orchestra, said that the piece was meant to be outside... so the idea was kinda more animal sounds for that one, but really could be re-interpreted to city sounds, concert hall sounds, etc.... oh and yes, all bars of music are written out and the pianist follows it throughout the piece, changing the pages and all.

Let's make an original concept album.

Obviously original material has the majority vote. Of course it will be hard for us to collaborate on that without having the songs clash with each other. We'd need to listen to each others' work and adjust our own songs to fit together on the album. Designing a concept and deciding on a sound will give us a lot more focus and let us work separately toward a similar outcome, and a less messy result.

Cool idea. Then you aren't forced into doing a single album and people could get different styles they are more comfortable with. Maybe take some of the lesser known tracks that make the albums great albums.

I'd love to hear a more modern take on "When the Levee Breaks" for instance.

Okay, so let's see what we have.

Originals - good idea and most popular - more effort but more interesting?

Covers - a whole album is difficult - the idea of a song from one of the albums in the top 20 is good (still bars Fitter, Happier)

Remix - nope.

Combination - possible to have one original and one cover

I will keep a tally on the front page to who will contribute.

We should really get the exact amount of people who are gonna help and whether it's gonna be one complete song per person or more than one person per song before choosing which album are we covering/how many originals/etc.

I'm having loads of free time lately and spend most of my current down time playing music so I'm 100% in (as a contributor). I'm willing to do originals and covers, but I think it'd be easier to take a cover as our first project. I'm also down to do a track by myself or collaborate with more people.

Really cool idea gang. I'm looking forward to listening to whatever you guys come up with. I wish I had some sort of musical ability to contribute but sadly I'll just be on the sidelines.

I would suggest that the thing that brings everyone here together is BEA and you are billing at a BEA compilation so what you do should somehow be related to BEA. Then it can be used to promote BEA and if it's put on Bandcamp or somewhere similar maybe proceeds could be donated to BEA or something.

Because of that I think it would be cool if what you chose to cover could also be linked to BEA and maybe have an explanation that advertises the use of the site such as:

just ideas...
