A pretty recent discovery for me, it has quickly become an all time favorite album of mine. If you even slightly enjoy depressing music from time to time, this is an absolute essential listen. If you don't, it's still worth a listen as much of the music is very bright and always beautifully written.

I originally discovered it through the website albumoftheyear.org, which has it ranked as the 6th greatest indie album of all time. Indie rock at it's finest.

Pitchfork gave it a stellar 9.5 as well as the coveted best new music stamp. A snippet from the review:

"Defying the unwritten rule that any band breaking a five-plus year hiatus must return lethargic and sapped of inspiration before retreating again to obscurity, here The Wrens prove themselves even more shockingly relevant than before-- they have survived extinction, and, fully inspired, they are telling the tale: The Meadowlands is a crushing confessional, documenting every disappointment of the past seven years, every difficult breakup, every bad gig.
