Was it your own vomit? If not, then couldn't you have moved? At concerts I feel like I always somehow migrate pretty far away from where I was originally standing.

I am the greatest Radiohead fan because I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl... and the whole time I was standing in vomit... that is commitment hahaha

I have an emotional problem with them. At the begining, and more especially with The Bends, I found them too emotionally intense for me. I liked their music but couldn't listen to it at any time. Then, starting with Kid A, I find that there is too little emotion in their music. It's great but it leaves me cold most of the time.

I really wonder about their innovation. This is not a striking characteristic to me. As for their influence, besides Thom Yorke's voice, I do not see it that much.

Two comments to this:

1) I agree Radiohead was really hard for me to listen to after a while on the Hail to the Thief album... that album is super dark for me. Zero hope. Emotionally dangerous.

2) I have a friend that doesn't like them, and says it is because when they are being "innovative" their stuff is... let's find a strange beat and put a repetitive minor key something over it...
I kinda agree, but I don't like them because I feel they are innovative, rather they make interesting sounds that also aren't all that out there... I don't like music that is trying to be out there, but just is.

3) I put Pablo Honey and King of Limbs in the same boat... however the last two tracks on king of limbs totally fuck me where I lay (are awesome).

Yea I had a similar experience in that before coming to this website I only knew of a few people that actually really respected them. Others thought they were okay, or just plain bad. Then I came here and found that they were like the Beatles of the internet generation. Personally I don't really get them either besides OKC which I love.

I didn't get them at first, for like 3 listens to OK Computer, haha. But then I remember reading things that people said about Trout Mask Replica (how you apparently HAVE to listen to it 5 or 6 times to realize its brilliance, though I still don't get it...), and I gave OK Computer another listen, and for some reason something just clicked. Then I branched out to The Bends and Kid A, and I loved them too. Maybe there's a certain point where if I listen to an album enough it just becomes familiar and I can't help but like it, but maybe it's that something changed in my life between the 3rd and 5th listens that made me realize that I liked it. Anyway, point is that I used to dislike Radiohead, and now I like them. That (and the reverse) can be said for many bands I'm sure for many people.

The first time I ever came across Radiohead was in 1992 when they supported James at the G-Mex in Manchester. This was as they had just released Creep. I remember that when they were on a few people were getting jiggy, then when they played Creep the place went mental.

I never really heard much of them until they released The Bends and OK Computer and the singles like Fake Plastic Trees. Although I liked a few of their hits I was not really over the moon with them. I have to admit though some of the songs High and Dry and No Surprises are some of my favourite tunes and would make it into any playlist I made, but as a whole I just don't get them.

A few years later there was tremendous hype about Kid A. So I bought the album and thought it was absolute tosh. In fact I think I only played it once and then it stayed there gathering dust for the next 15 years. Again a few years later they released In Rainbows as a free download. Owt for nowt they say here in Yorkshire. It was worth every penny, but only just.

I didn't listen to them again until earlier this year when I joined this site and everybody thinks they are great. I blew the cobwebs off Kid A and put it on. It gave me a headache and was turned off before I even got halfway through. I just don't get it at all ?? 🧱

I'd say the thing I like the best about Radiohead is that you can see their evolution from album to album as clearly as day. They constantly 'reinvent' / change their sound, and not every band does that. Some get stuck in a rhythm of outputting the same thing over and over. So you hear pleasant songs like "Street Spirit" and "Fake Plastic Trees" in the 90's, which differ entirely from the beautiful sweeping arrangement of Kid A's "How to Disappear Completely" and the eerie melancholy of something like "Pyramid Song"
