Great, so now I am a dadrocker. Although my thought on dadrocker music taste would be who I saw at the record air yesterday. Searching for vinyl by 70s Australian bands that are forever played on commercial radio.

Whenever I meet those people, I act severely offended, and make up some rant about how it's insulting to people with bad vision (like moi). It's always funny to watch their reactions. 🤣

I'm guilty of using the term "hipster." I use it for people that don't like things based solely on the fact that it's popular, or like to make it seem that they don't like those things anyway. This particular case is weird because it appears that this person thinks that being a hipster is cool so they are trying to be one, but aren't really one.

To me, 'Hipster' is more about what you don't like than what you do like. Those that fit the awful cliche usually spend more time bashing Coldplay, Mumford and Sons and Muse than they do espousing what they like.

Anyway, about the hipster thing, I think this is interesting:

I've gotten called a hipster (by friends and non-friends) for various things such as: brewing my own beer, my sense (or lack thereof) of fashion, my taste in movies, my hat collection, and the fact that I played a cello in a rock-ish band. But never my music taste; I suppose it's because I generally like all kinds of music. I listen to "hipster" music often, but I also like a lot of the pop crap that plays during parties and at bars. I don't consider myself a hipster though, there are others (people on the street I see day in/day out) who are incredibly more hip than I am. I think hipster generally just refers to living an "alternative lifestyle", and the rejection of "mainstream" lifestyle, or the lifestyle of their/our parents. Whether that be through the way one dresses, eats, converses, lives, or in the movies they watch, music they listen to, places they go, there's many ways to be "hip", but it's all relative.

i really honestly have no idea what it means anymore. In Seinfeld, Kramer was called a hipster. He was awesome.

I certainly fit some definitions, but not others.
