Having never really listened to AiC before, I decided to first listen to Dirt. That way I could gain some perspective and better judge the quality of the album. I thought TDPDH was pretty basic rock album, not as good as earlier AiC and not as interesting as other albums out this year. a few good songs though.

Wow, I really felt like this one dragged on. Surely disappointed. There really wasn't any one track that stuck out in my mind. 60/100

That's about right for me. I barely got through the whole album.

Anyway, I know there's people out there who love AiC (and QotSA for that matter), but maybe it's just not for me. I enjoyed Jar of Flies, but not much else by AiC.

And in regards to the Christopher Lee thing: that was simultaneously the best and worst music video I've ever seen. Song was lame though. Lee has a nice voice though.

The best track is the first! Anyway, go to Dirt after this album. This is a good one, but Dirt is amazing. In my top 40!

Good album overall, wouldn't go so far as to call it great. Kind of dragged after about 45min. The only song that really jumped out to me as a keeper is "Voices."

Even in their heyday, I was never much of an Alice In Chains fan. And I have an unfair severe prejudice against bands who continue to record under the same name after losing their lead singer. That said, I'm really impressed with this album. They manage to sound like Alice In Chains at their best, rather than a cheap imitation. I think a lot of people won't give this album a fair chance because it's Alice In Chains and out of their comfort zone, but this is wort a listen.
