Obviously Black Sabbath. Almost voted Zeppelin, but Sabbath created a genre, and one of my favorite at that. But yea I would have voted Pink Floyd if they were nominated.

Not sure how you can put Skynyrd on here and not the Allman Brothers. The Allman Brothers were so influential they created a whole new genre just to categorize them. A genre which Skynyrd then firmly planted themselves inside of.

Given the choices I'll go with Zeppelin.

You got it. Bowie would be there as an influencial artist but I always considered him as a solo artist.

Stooges

directly influenced early Brit punk, kickstarted the LA scene, hell it influenced all rowdy guitar music at least to Nirvana, even gave Ramones "their classic" 1-2-3-4 count off

Of this list, I'd go with Zeppelin, though like others, I don't agree with the exclusion of Pink Floyd or the Rolling Stones or the Clash. Could also include the Ramones and the Stooges.

I don't understand the inclusion of The Doors and MC5, considering that their best albums were all released in the 60s

I'd say Sabbath, The Clash, or Pink Floyd considering how huge their influences were

What is influence? It opens up a philosophical question.Two of the 1970s band (not mentioned in ), who have been very influential in the development of music - and transfer it to the other bands are: Chic and Roxy Music.In the seventies maintained the so-called rock movements, disco anger. But what did happen - the former rock musicians (Rod Stewart, The Rolling Stones, Queen, ELO ..) wanted to become a disco artist (Edward/ Rogers)!
Listen to Roxy Music albums, and you can conclude that it is greatly influenced by the next decade, the music has to offer. Ok, Chic and Roxy weren´t rock bands...but nor Miles Davis and Terry Riley...and how influencial are AC/DC?

I would have added Wire, or at least Joy Division. Pink Floyd, as stated, is an omission. They were my gut reaction.
