Haha, I guess this is what happens when you only visit BEA once a week. Congratulations, itsit/alelsupreme/fellowkittypryde fanatic, and wow does this remind me of how involved I got with the tournament last year, glad to see Jhereko got off his lazy but beautiful ass to finish this tournament (I keed). Hope this team at least inspired some people to check out the likes of Swell Maps and Pylon.

(and 1980 is still the best year ever)

Slept on it....

Voted 71 for 3 reasons

1. Over the whole of this tourney, we have sweated blood to get a good team out and on reflection this is a pretty strong team. Despite how much I love the '80 team, i can't let the side down

2. This is the best shot I'll ever have of actually 'winning' a BEA tourney! 😁

3. The very best people were born in 1971, so the music must have been truly inspirational! 😜

1971, in spite of Yes and the worst Doors' album. Synthesist almost convinced me to go with '80, but that one-two punch of 'Family Affair' and 'Let's Stay Together' is irresistible. A close call though.

71. I prefer 80s music to 70s music hands down but this just wasn't the best year for it.

totally agree about the early to mid 70s being hopeless... and if you are judging the early 80s by REO Speedwagon then I can see why you might not be impressed 😄

For me there were heaps of great albums on the tail end of the post punk blast of creativity - Fire of Love, Heaven up here, ..ADTKJLI, Movement, Deceit, The Ascension, Violent Femmes, You can't hide your love forever, junkyard, Vs, The Plateau Phase, ... to name but very few.

But then I guess as 'decades' go 1976 - 1984 is probably my favourite of all of them (although I have a big softspot for 1988 - 1995 as well). So I suppose it isn't suprising that 81 and 82 would feature highly for me.

Anyway we should probably save this for another time so we don't derail this thread..

Still at least he left out *vomit* Pink Floyd...

Very conflicted because I genuinely think the 80 team is better (plus the Cramps are normally a guaranteed MSS vote winner)

Will probably abstain cause as a co-captain (even one who was ignored), I can't really vote against the team.

I definitely prefer 1980 as a year, but here, the choices will make me vote for 1971. Sabbath, Bowie, Funkadelic, Mitchell, Gaye... 1980 has Talking Heads, but the other choices don't live up to this album IMO.
