As much as I love NIN, "Pretty Hate Machine" is far from their best album. It's good, but not great.

"Selected Ambient Works", however, is phenomenal. It's hard to describe, but it's just an incredible work of sound. I love it.

Both albums are terrific, but in completely different ways. Aphex Twin was quite enjoyable, pleasing songs, nice tunes. Pretty Hate Machine rocked, although it was a little inconsistent, with some tracks much better than others.

Haven't listened to either album, but I've heard other things from NIN and was not at all impressed. I'm afraid I'll be going into this one with a little bias.

Selected Ambient Works 85-92 is an album I've wanted to love, but I've never gotten to that point. Pretty Hate Machine was an enormous part of my life
