Manhattan by Skaters. If you like post-punk revival bands like Franz Ferdinand or early Arctic Monkeys, then you will really enjoy this album. It's their debut, and it's great.

writing albums notes not my stronghold but if you insist... not entirely sure this is helpful.

Wander / Wonder by Balam Acab
This is my Orwellian space odyssey. This is my aquatic dreamscape fantasy. This is my morning blend of post-Burial / post-Salem, electro-chill, dystopian withdrawal. This is my flight from this mundane, manufactured, post-industrial, suburban bore.

Balam Acab takes my favorite elements from dubstep and witch haus, blends them in a conceptual basin of sound and drenches them head to toe - no - he submerges them beneath the deepest, darkest ocean. Then he holds your hand and pulls you towards a volcanic light, offering a glimmer of hope in the midst of great despair.

The production is fantastic. With every listen, you discover new layers beneath the surface. This guy literally pulls samples from the kitchen sink, the bathtub and from sprinkler heads. The lyrics are minimal in their approach and delivery, but they are surprisingly reflective.

Experimental, Post-Folk, Post-Amnesiac;; Cinjun and Shelby of Remy Zero fame separate themselves from their radio-friendly, pop band to create an album full of the music they truly resonate with. It's pretty reminiscent of Remy's first album. It doesn't strive to theme a television series or echo through stadiums. It's intimate, sincere and weird. It's human.

The music is pretty limited to acoustic guitars and conventional chords with electronic compliments (chirps, buzzes, gains, grains and grit). The harmonies between brothers Cinjun and Shelby are unmatched. The two compliment each other brilliantly. If you're a big Amnesiac fan, this might be for you.
weird, experimental, generally mellow acoustic nonsense. pensive. it's dark, but it's sardonic and fun. CA Redemption Value gets the weirdest.
Great musicianship and artistry and songwriting and originality and fun and explosive and intimate and #melt this is jazz influenced alternative from classically trained musicians. total turnoff on first listen. turned out to be a huge favorite over the years that followed.
dream pop / shoe gaze / post-cocteau / post-nightblooms. beautiful music. takes time to get used to her voice, which she sounds a little strained at time. she's not particularly suited to what she's trying to do with this, but it works out well nonetheless. happy sad music.
Experimental, Folk, Ambient, Singer-Songwriter... What's great about this album is how uncomfortable it makes you feel. The lyrics deal with death, loss and what lies beyond. it moves really slow and isn't particularly "catchy" or "accessible", but it's rewarding enough to those who listen close and give it time. lyrically pretty clever.
This album is probably the peak of Phil Ochs career, its funny, its poignant, the songs are classics.

I think it gets unfair judgement becuase ppl think its a compilation. It isnt, its the 3rd and final record that Ochs made with Elektra and the last one he did fully acoustic.
^ this album is also not a compilation, but rather just an ironic title. good trolling phil.

I'm going to suggest an album that isn't even on the chart whatsoever,

Strange Fruits and Undiscovered Plants by DeWolff.

some great retro blues-rock tunes, they remind me a lot of deep purple.
definitely a pretty good and underrated album

stand out tracks: Don't You Go Up the Sky, Birth Of the Ninth Sun, Wicked Moon and Leather God

Right now, the album I'm most interested in from last year is Omnium Gatherum - Beyond. It's relatively brutal because of the growling vocals, yet extremely melodic to the point where it soothes my soul. I guess it belongs in the "melodic death metal"-category, or "Gothenburg metal"-category (though they are from Finland, haha). I'm very, very surprised, as I did check the band out with their earlier releases, and I found them extremely boring, but with their latest release, they've completely surpassed and exceeded my jaded self's opinion of them. I've yet to re-listen to their older stuff, so whether they've become that much more awesome, or if I'm just an idiot, I've yet to decide. But listen to it, dammit!

I've actually heard of them, haha. My dad had one of their CDs when I was growing up. Not really my thing but it's cool that you've also heard of them, haha.
This album is #47 on my overall chart. "The Picture" shows that Jay Farrar can be upbeat if he wants to be. The Search has Farrar re-inventing his band once again, with really exceptional results. The simplicity of "Slow Hearse", the classic Son Volt theme of the excellent "Methamphetamine", fine front to back songwriting, the perfection of the band as a whole. Son Volt's albums are all pretty much great, but this one came out at a time that made it particularly special to me. This one by a nose over them all except for Trace.

This album is on 6 BEA charts, 4 of them are mine. It is on 1 overall chart, 2 decade charts, 2 year charts and 1 custom chart.
"There are some bands that maintain classic status to a certain informed percentage of listeners despite almost complete anonymity elsewhere. Chicago folk-rockers H.P. Lovecraft may never have made much of a musical impact on the 1960s/1970s psychedelic rock scene, but they did manage to lay down two extraordinarily cosmic records of west coast rockers that rank up with the best the era had to offer. Their self-titled debut, released on Philips in 1967, set the scene: tight rhythm section, spaced-out guitars, whirling organ, and wide-screen vocal harmonies. Though they took their name from Edgar Allen Poe’s most worthy of successors, the mind-warping writer H.P. Lovecraft, their music itself leaned far closer to the wired, black-light anthems of bands like Jefferson Airplane and Mad River than anything overtly Gothic...read more here

15 seems kind of low. Eh, whatever.

I found this Christian rock group called Petra. Their 1974 debut was good. there are a couple albums I like more, but it's an interesting mix of Eagles and Allman Brothers styles, and Christian. The album lead me to three other Petra albums. Rank score is 9.

Also, HArK by Brad harkan. Keeping a single sound through out while displaying diversity, HArK is one of the better albums by Brad Harkan. Honestly, the album gets better as you progress. It's score is 5.

Finally, does anyone here like EDM? I'd recommend Cher's best work: "Closer to the Truth." Is it amazing? No. Nothing by Cher is. But it was well produced, very diverse, and the entire first half was great. But it's only for EDM fans. It made it to the 120's on my chart, while the other two Cher albums I've heard are less than 150/327. Honestly, I'm surprised it's not on radio more often. It's score is also 5. I doubt anyone will listen to this, though.
