Vampire Weekend's debut beat one of the best albums in this tourney in the first round (unfortunate, I hold Vampire Weekend's first two albums in fairly low regard). Suicide is an odd album. When I first heard one of the tracks (can't remember the name), I was fairly scared. I voted Sucide, but neither albums do a lot for me currently.

On the second listen, the Suicide album was more interesting than the first time, and the Vampire Weekend album was less interesting. I hate liking a band called "Suicide", but it was the better album.

Vampire Weekend's debut is right outside my top 100, and it is a great album, but I find it hard to vote against Suicide in this matchup.

If "Cheree" were an instrumental it would be one of the top 10 ambient tracks I've ever heard, but it's made that much better by Vega.

"Girl" is one of the top 10 sexiest tracks ever recorded no discussion. Among my many fantasies with cocaine, I one day want to find a girl who wants to knock boots to this track.

So, Suicide by Suicide. I'll skip the part where I explain how influential it has been, because this game is all about quality, not quantity. What is this record?

It's rock. Rockabilly, to be more precise. Early rockabilly. The kind of rockabilly that random kids would play in all sorts of countryside backyards all over the USA back in 57. The kind of wild retro rockabilly Hasil Adkins pictured the best in the wondrous "She Said" back in, what? 64? 66? Don't remember.

Only, it was released in '77. And it's got machines. Early machines, the kind of machines random kids would play in inner city bedrooms in the late 70s. The kind of machines that can do one thing at a time. The result is this: fucked up Elvis singing to drugged up Neu. Neu and Elvis being already, respectively, drugged up and fucked up, you get this:

On any given day, Suicide could be a top 10 album for me. I love Vampire Weekend, but I love their debut less than the other things and blah
