There is a new Sparks album which is the best collection of their songs yet. 😄 I think it was released last week. I may put the album as my favorite for 2013

If it answers your question about any biases I may or may not have, I kinda like that Grimes album.

Also, I just kinda like Nanda Collection. There's sort of a.. bubblegum.. feel to it. Maybe also kind of like a ball pit. It's repetitive-feeling but does stir some things in the imagination. I ought to relisten, though.

Grimes is also repetitive but has sort of a cloudy, fairy-world thing going on (I know it's a 2012 album instead of 2013, but mainstream pop is not exactly at the top of my mental to-listen list).

Come to think of it, mainstream pop seems to be at it's best lately. I can't think of an album before the 2010s that I'd be close to remotely liking, but now there's Grimes and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu coming close.

By the way, Torchlin, I think you'd enjoy "Tada, Soredake." by Charan-Po-Rantan & Cancan Balkan. It's mainstream but unique.

I'm not the one to deny the quality of the album, I think it's a great one and in my current top 20 of the year. But I just found it amusing to see that Poe seems to like it, considering his usual tastes. So that question came naturally.

Various Artists - Longing for the Past: The 78 RPM Era in Southeast Asia
My favorite V/A of all time, at the moment. 3rd favorite album of all time right now.

MC Carol Bandida - 2010-2013
Hip Hop that's so good even I like it. ...anticipating people questioning if it's real hip hop, RYM categorizes this album as "Funk Carioca", which is: "hiphop-influenced dance music originating from Rio de Janeiro".

Mammane Sani Et Son Orgue - La musique électronique du Niger
It grooves. Not much else to say.

Honorable mention: Dennis Johnson - November (R. Andrew Lee)
It's like super important or something, I dunno. The first minimalism-music recording IIRC? I listened to a bit of it once and thought it was pleasant. Maybe I should listen to it again with a fuller level of attention.

Some albums I should listen to:
