Just a thought: I like the 2 or 3 album nominations idea. Whoever mentioned that probably, honestly, and this is just my guess based wholly off the brilliance of that idea, has a huge and beautiful penis.

But another thought I had was it shouldn't be a problem. We just had a pretty fun lil PPNW tournament and it simply involved promoting the artist you were the captain of, posting songs, etc. we could do it the same way. Or we could mix both ideas up and involve promotion of other kinds and promotions using other songs and data on the solo artist along with the albums the captain chose to "represent" the musician in question.

Yeah, that's kinda why we were discussing picking the 3 favorite records to represent an artist of something.

People people people.... this has been explained clearly, if the album is created to a lone person, it's acceptable to use in promotion for them.

Under these rules, an artist would only be eligible if he wrote, performed, recorded, mixed, produced, distributed, and packaged all of his/her album all by themselves.

This is very simple. Why do we need to complicate it?

A: I thought you were a newbie until I saw your sig.

B: Like in the 2nd paragraph, my concern is how many albums a person needs to hear from the nominated artists before they vote. 2 or 3? And do one of these albums have to be in the top 3 or so of that artist's discography? I think three is good. Either that or just hear the top 1 or 2. If not the top 2, maybe you must hear at least 3 other albums from the artist, and list them on your post. That's what I'd go for, because by the third album you have a good grasp of the band.

Or, concerning the last paragraph I quoted, maybe users must listen to at least two of the three nominated albums before they can vote. I don't think a user should listen to six albums (3 for each artist) in case the user hasn't heard either band before. Either that, or hear one of the albums and a couple others. Basically, hear two of the three nominated albums, or one and a couple others.

C: I don't think Jeff Buckley should be eligible despite how good Grace is.

Yeah, i was half joking imagining how few people have actually listened to the entire discographies of Bob Dylan and Tom Waits, although you can make a pretty good judgement based on their landmark releases, so I think your idea is great. Although some of the greatness of people like Waits and Dylan is their longevity. So, it wouldn't totally be fair to compare Waits three best vs someone like Vashti Bunyan, who has very little recorded history.

Maybe a best solo album tournament makes more sense? But I'd hate it to be like 20 Dylan albums.

This I don't think would need to change each round, as most solo artists discographies wouldn't take them through 3 to 5 rounds of 3 different quality albums each. So maybe you can choose your representative works and if you want you can change them for each round or keep them the same based off the nominator's decision. ? Idk. Just some ideas.

Good idea! It could give us a chance to get into more solo acts, and there are plenty of acts thaat I need to get into because the only solo acts I know so well are Alice Cooper, Meat Loaf, and Hayden Who. I've only heard one album from many other solo acts like Tom Waits, Miles Davis, Bonnie Tyler, and many others.

This. The artist who is credited would have gotten little to no input in the release and most of the time the motivation behind releasing them is capitalising on an artists name.
