The Milk-Eyed Mender too. As true as the things that have been said about the excellent The Doors may be, not a lot of things can match the thrill I felt the first time I heard "Peach, Plum, Pear". The Doors is great, but that song (and most of the LP) is something else altogether.

I love both to death, and The MEM would for sure be high on my chart without the 1 album per artist rule, but The Doors is in my top 10, so... That said, I do think that Strange Days is almost as good as the debut. It would probably in my top 20 or something.

The Doors, by a lot. I really like The Milk-Eyed Mender (it may even be my favourite Newsom album), but The Doors' debut is one of the greatest albums ever. It's a shame they never matched those early heights again.
