If that one doesn't check out, other great punk albums include Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables by Dead Kennedys, Ramones by Ramones, The Clash and London Calling by The Clash, and Marquee Moon by Television. Those are good starting places, anyhow. If you wanna get into post-punk (which I generally prefer) check out both of Joy Division's albums and Wire's first two.

By the way, I only really understood that album after I began to look into punk deeper, so don't be surprised if you find it quite dull and uninspiring on the first listen.

The Ramones and the Clash are also essential, but again, I had the same problem as with Never Mind the Bollocks. Funnily, I got into post-hardcore before punk, despite it possibly being slightly less accessible than punk, and the first punk album I really enjoyed was Jane from Occupied Europe by Swell Maps, again, despite it being less accessible. It then took getting into the Dead Kennedys before I began to appreciate more punk albums, and, after hearing that, I returned to the "classic" punk bands, and began to enjoy them more.

A:The ne album rule is where users make a chart with one album per artist to make it more diverse. There are other reasons, but I find making that a main chart pointless.

B: Definitely listen to 3 Feet High and Rising, my fave hip-hop album.

C: My mom's that way about handling doses with Steely Dan and Rush.

D: I'm not even going to say anything regarding the Sex Pistols.

Seriously though, for classic punk you might want to check out: The Ramones, Wire, X, The Clash, The Damned and Minutemen. More hardcore stuff would be: Dead Kennedys, OFF!, Angry Samoans, The Dicks, The Adolescents NoMeansNo and Husker Du.

thanks for the advice. I don't think I'll take happymeal's suggestions from now on. I had to check that out though to see what the fuss was about and now there is a portion of my life I won't ever get back or fully understand.

Thanks! I really get into the folk/country/americana stuff so I'll check out your charts for some more ideas. I really like the Avett Bros live stuff and I listen to mumford and sons sometimes; The Tallest Man on Earth is also really good. I dig the older stuff too, but I'm not nearly as into Bob Dylan as some other members of this site (Mercury, I'm talking to you).
