Out of country music, Alabama would be labeled the best, but my most favorite is Diamond Rio. I love their instrumental named "Rural Philharmonic". 😄 😄 😄

To me, Can have the title due to their combination of talent, innovation, creativity, experimentation, influence, popularity, and recognition.

Second place, I'm thinking one of Talk Talk, Dirty Three, Faust, Mercury Rev, (insert whatever I am forgetting here)

(I'm excluding individuals from this list, or else figures like Joanna Newsom, Mark Kozelek, and Phil Elvrum would be contenders)

Yeah which shows an important point: chances are if you have a pick for best band ever, chances are it's a band you're a fan of.

I don't really like Led Zeppelin, but I can easily understand why an avid Led Zeppelin fan would consider them the best ever.

Second place, I'm thinking one of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Radiohead, (insert whatever I am forgetting here)

Edit: Just realized my band list is entirely British. I'm pretty sure I'm an anglophile.

However, I would believe that if you combine the numbers with general critical praise over the years, that would most likely put The Beatles at the top (personal bias aside).

There is no "best band in history". It's different for everyone. You don't have to like anything! The Beatles are great, but some people may not like them. Never feel pressured to like or dislike artists or albums just because of other's opinions or the artist's influence and importance to the musical community.
