I enjoy Smog, but I've never been able to get into Callahan in the way I've wanted to. Same thing as Will Oldham with me, I'm sure more appreciation will come someday, but as for now I don't totally love them. I haven't listened to Gaye in a while now, so maybe a relisten of some of his albums is due before I vote, but I see myself being on his side this match-up

Marvin Gaye for his influence and releasing some of the most iconic albums of all time.

Smog may be the underdog, but he's far too mopy for my tastes.

Well it IS something special. Gonna go Smog, but damn they are two of the best songwriters to ever walk on Earth.
