It's unlikely I'll be continuing this project into anything much more than it already is, but I have plans for bigger and better things, hopefully not long after my graduation.

'Coding' is a bit of a stretch since it was built in an engine that eliminates most of the need to. So a bit of coding here and there, but mostly just logic systems. Learning to actually code hard-core is hopefully a next step.

Otherwise yeah, it was a solo project. I'm fortunate enough that my Uni course basically lets me do all this stuff that I enjoy and grades me for it. But if all goes to plan it's the kind of thing I want to do in the future.

If it's inspired you to go and make your own stuff, then I'd say my work is done 😄

Character designs are mine, I took some cues from 'Sun Wukong' for the Monkey King, but otherwise they should be all original. Full backgrounds would have been fun to do, but yeah, a lot of work. I was trying to get it to resemble Japanese Ink Wash painting for the most part, so the emptiness was a part of that.

Glad the pacing felt right. My main concern was the game had some obviously boring sequences, but seems different people are seeing different things in each section, which is reassuring (the village you said you liked was actually one of my concerns!).

I wrote all of the music, apart from the choral recording during the lotus petal count - that was sourced online. I can't take credit for the actual cello playing, that was a studio musician who recorded the score I provided. Great to hear it sounded cohesive. I had some pressure on me from my tutors to make a completely abstract, industrial sounding score, but I was very keen to do something more traditional, albeit with some unusual moments.

Just want to say as a whole I really didn't anticipate such support, so thanks to everyone here who downloaded the game and gave it a try, it's incredibly encouraging.

Thanks Skinny, it's been good to see it working out for people who aren't so big on games. Really appreciate you typing up your thoughts on the form. Very insightful, especially against what's already been submitted - already included it in my report.

As part of my final university project I've been building an abstrast video game titled 'Kingdom Ka'. At its core its a retelling of a number of Buddhist parables (jatakas), but it takes into account lots of different concepts surrounding birth, death, the self, and the afterlife.

It's quite a slow paced game, with little more to do than explore each story and engage in conversations with some of the world's characters.

I'm currently gathering thoughts and feedback for my university report, so it's free to download and play for anyone that wants to. It's the sum of about four months work, having personally written, illustrated and animated the game myself. I even composed about 20 minutes of original soundtrack that you guys might be particular interested to hear.

It's about 45-60 minutes in length. I'd love to hear what anyone has to say about it.

I poured like four teas into the well and then finally said no thanks and the body disappeared and I went upscreen and came to a signpost. Stopped there, but there were a number of avenues to explore. Hope that helps.

Anyway, I don't play video games but this is really cool. Nice vibes.

Really appreciate it 😄 It's really more of an interactive bit of art than a game. You mostly just click things and watch it unfold - you can't be 'good' at it, so to speak. Hope it works out for you if you don't end up giving it a try.

thanks. honestly, i have no idea. i like the painting, but what possesses people to buy art in the first place? i'll never know the answer to that question. but if it sells, i'll be a happy camper.
