Agree with this entirely, Damon & Naomi are good but Luna are at times astounding. In fact Dean's solo release from this year is one of my favorites that's been released. Obviously Galaxie 500 was a collective brilliance, but Dean's totally got the victory on post-Galaxie stuff. Slash Your Tires is one of my favorite tracks of the 90s.

This shoegaze argument is pretty hilarious.

I see your argument, but YMMR does share quite a few qualities with plenty of other shoegaze groups (Starflyer 59, Jesu, Some stuff by Swervedriver, etc.), it just also features qualities that are present in noise pop as well and most people tend to classify YMMR as both shoegaze and Noise pop.

Yes yes and yes !!

Their debut is also amazing :

Luna and Dean Wareham also have great releases to check out once the Galaxie 500 records have crumbled in overplay.

This may be the most I've ever agreed with Happymeal. On Fire I'd never call shoegaze but it skirts the line between dream pop and slowcore and does so brilliantly. Wonderfully important album to the development of both genres too.

I never argued it wasn't shoegaze, it's just that I've never seen it classified as shoegaze anywhere. However, this particular post will go ahead and make the claim that classifying On Fire as Shoegaze and comparing it to You made Me Realise (come on, they're almost completely different sounds) is a huge stretch. On Fire certainly does not create the wall of sound that typical Shoegaze bands create, but I will also claim that On First is a brilliant effort in regards to Dream Pop and Slowcore.

I always liked to listen to this album (well .... I like to listen to albums goddammit Antonio You're so dumb) but this one is that I see sometimes taking my album re-listen laziness even not being a great fan of this album, I like to listen to it the songs are pretty good and the sound that they do really makes me want to listen to this a lot of times, I still not connected with it Maybe I just need some re-listens or it's not just my hype... Liking or not it's an album that I can interrupt my listening list and relax listening to

"Blue Thunder" and "Another Day" are stellar. The whole album's very good, but I can't help feeling I love the idea of Galaxie 500 being a superb band rather than I love their full albums, tbh. Except for that bootleg I have which has all their covers on it. Still, considering their influence and the fact that they're really good, everybody should try it.
