Alright, I didn't get a chance to relisten to either, but based on what I remember I'm pretty comfortable voting for In Sides. Ekstasis definitely feels like an album I could get into after repeated listens, though, so we'll see if my opinion holds.

Logic dictates I should like Ekstasis a lot more than I do. I loved Loud City Song and generally dig Holter's style, but for some reason it doesn't hit me too much. Still a good album, but not near the level of Loud City Song.

As for In Sides, I'd never heard of it before the tournament and I really enjoyed it. It seems like it was a pretty important album in its time, so I'm a bit surprised I had absolutely no knowledge of it, but it was really cool and I'm going to revisit it sometime soon for sure.

Vote to In Sides.

Just got done listening to In Sides on headphones while aimlessly walking around my neighborhood as a storm merely suggests itself with some cool breezes that dissipate the summer heat. In Sides literally becomes my world for the next hour. Each song renders a completely different world and different feelings. The 2-part The Box is my fave though. It has to named as such since it sounds like nothing but the coolest music box ever. She tinkles away in perfect ringlets as her lover, flamenco guitar, romances her telling her lovely she is. That they'll be together forever. Just him and her in their perfect, magical music box. And then the mirror cracks. Darkness creeps in. She's been cast from the box, broken off. Horror. Fright. Panic. Racing through the streets with frantic glances back. She's being followed. His mask fall off, and.. Fucking masterpiece. Like the two song musical equivalent of the Black Swan.

Julia, I'm sure we'll have our moments. But tonight belongs to In Sides.

I'm going to drag my feet on tho one as long as I can. Easily the toughest matchup in this batch, although Blind Guardian vs. Creep On is a close second.

Wow, Orbital's Insides was an album I had listened to previously and absolutely loved. Every track was perfect in an atmospheric sense, but was jammin at every turn. No matter how much dance - ability there was, it also seemed like such a content and calm musical endeavor which is something I appreciate hugely in Electronic music.

Julia Holter surprised me on this one. I listened to Loud City Song at one point and never felt impressed. The singing was pretty beautiful on the album and I can't deny that, but I didn't enjoy the album because it felt like an attempt to create a gorgeous atmosphere and sound without fully accomplishing it. On this particular album, the atmosphere was gorgeous. It was tantamount to walking through flower gardens after a morning rain and, as cliche as that sounds, it's something that I personally can't believe was accomplished. It was such a beauty of an album that I almost felt like releasing tears of joy simply from the appreciation.

I voted for Orbital because it's just my preference, but Julia Holter did something marvelous here.

Both were just fantastic, but my vote goes to Holter because her voice just hypnotizes me.

Orbital was really great. It's interesting to listen to them now and think how far ahead of their time they were.

But I still just enjoy Julia Holter better.

Orbital is superior, almost superlative, electronic music. Julia Holter's voice, and what she does with it, is incredible. Like Enya at her most harmonic, Sara Bareilles at her most melodic, Janelle Monae at her most musical. Amazing album.

Don't remember getting much from Ekstasis when I heard it a couple of years back but I'll give it another listen before voting. It'll take a lot to beat the magical 'In Sides' though.

I always liked In Sides, even if it does feel like rave music you can't rave to. Holter's really cool too, but gonna go Orbital here.

This just isn't fair. Orbital is probably the definition of what I look for in electronic music for my taste and Holter is a simply phenomenal songwriter that has grabbed my interest immensely. I'll vote for Orbital as I've liked them longer and they inspire more for me but this was NOT an easy decision.
