Dip into the underground, it's actually really good right now.

Strange Journey Volume Three by CunninLynguists

It's not received all that much attention (although I think RYM have it ranked very high), but I think it's an exceptional effort. Possibly my favourite collection of beats on any Hip Hop album, and some really clever, thoughtful lyrics that are even genuinely funny at times from both the CunninLynguist's and an absurdly good array of featuring artists - Blu, Masta Ace, Aesop Rock, J-Live, Del The Funky Homosapien.

Your Old Droog EP by Your Old Droog

Also this EP has gone too far under the radar for such great work. Some people are convinced it's Nas under a different moniker it's so good, but it's just some really solid old-school Hip Hop - maybe my favourite way to spend a half hour at the moment.

Listened to cunninlynguists one little while back and was ok, will have to listen again. Just checked that Your Old Droog and that sounds really good. I don't think it is Nas but it does sound like him, just not exactly in places. Good shout.

I was just listening to Kanye West's The College Dropout for the first time in a while and I still consider it his best album. Everyone likes My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy which has a few good songs but it's a kinda overrated. Madlib is one of the best Hip hop producers and he dropped a great album this year with Freddie Gibbs called Piñata that everyone should check out. Madlib also raps under an alter ego, Qasimoto, who has a really good album called The Unseen. I'm also a big fan of the Beastie Boys, Kendrick Lamar, Wu-Tang, A Tribe Called Quest among many others. I do agree that there should be more Hip hop represented on this site, I'm tired of seeing MBDTF as the only rap album that a lot of people here like.

Had first listen to this earlier as I'm trying to dig this sort of stuff. Enjoyed it to be honest, tunes weren't bad and it was quite lyrically advanced. You've probably heard it dozens of times. But there we go buddy. I'll take recommendations. I'll keep my eagle eye out.

Don't get me wrong, I love all of the music here but there is next to no hip hop talk. I think there should at least be a dedicated thread for the HH nerds to go nuts.
