I love their pretentiousness. I can't explain why.

I give more credit to their lists than NME, Rolling Stone etc. Every now and then they have a shame of a review, but that's what keeps them interesting for me

Guess I'm a pretentious snob but I really like Pitchfork, if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have found out about some of my favorite bands. I definitely agree with them more than say Rolling Stone.

But I also recognize that many of the most highly reviewed bands on the pitchfork website just so happen to appear at the pitchfork music festival...but who needs transparency. [/i]

😕 I must be the only one who finds theneedledrop annoying and obnoxious. But then If I had to watch Pitchfork as opposed to reading it I might feel the same.

I don't like Lateralus 🤣 so I'm good with that.

Overall, I like Pitchfork. Really good at scoping random indie albums that are mind-blowing, and they have fairly good critics there. I personally think this site is the best for musical review, cause it kind of combines everything together, and is a bit more accurate than the rest. I wish that Pitchfork would do a all-time albums list though 🙏

I don't like them at all (this is judging form my experiences with them 2-3 years ago.) I come here for recommendations about music, so I probably am being recommended music from Pitchfork anyway. However this site is far more interactive and personal, which I enjoy as opposed to "these are the new indie bands you should like them"

So I guess I like most of the bands the recommend, I just don't like the way they operate

I remember pitchfork, by remember I mean I haven't been there in over a year, but what I remember was that there lists were awful. And they were very anal in there reviews.

I use pitchfork everyday for news in the indie world 😜 Sometimes they have good taste in music and other times they don't...it's a hit and miss thing. They rate all those soft folky indie albums way to high...and they try and be hip in the hip hop section, but don't succeed.

I find I get better reviews and news about new singles from the youtube channel "theneedledrop"

actually that is a very good point about not wanting to be in contact with readers/have their feedback on reviews etc you definitly feel that they don't give a shit what you think of what they write, which is a double edged sword really because I look at the user comments on stereogum etc and you have the biggest idiots stating the most moronic things and to be honest if I was running a music review site I would consider not enabling reader comments.

It seems like somebody does this damn thread every few weeks, but regardless, not a fan. I use them to see if anything new looks interesting but I don't trust their reviews at all and I think the culture they further is somewhat absurd. Plus a lot of their interviews are usually good in spite of the reviewer. Did anyone read that Brian Eno interview from November? It was like, "Check it out Brian Eno, I'm just going to talk at you for a bit and not actually ask you that many questions, listen to my ideas please" but it was still wroth reading just because Eno is an interesting guy.

I use Pitchfork more than any other reviewer cause I find I agree with them more often then not. Not that I dont disagree with them a lot, but usually any album they rate as a 9 or better I will like.

I like Pitchfork. Sure, they're a bit snobby, but they're better than basically any other source (other than here, of course 😜 ). However, I'm always surprised at what they end up actually reviewing. They miss out on enormous classics like Electric Wizard, yet they pay a ton of attention to these random mixtapes? Really?

Their lists are perhaps my favourite part. And that is a great point about them being unpopular, as well as keeping the album alive.
