Thanks for the assist, Romanelli. My time is in very short supply right now and the hospital internet is spotty, so I can't easily search for more examples on youtube.

Honestly, while I can understand preferring Ribot or disliking Zappa, I'm genuinely surprised to see people doubting Zappa's playing ability. Ah well, whichever way this (or any match) falls, I won't be crushed. Lots of great guitarists on display here.

His sense of humor is what has always made him underrated...you don't have to tell every joke that pops into your head, and his attempts at being funny very often overshadowed his great playing.

Here's 35 minutes of Frank destroying. The Shut Up N Play Yer Guitar series was three volumes of just Frank shredding. You should be able to find what you need somewhere in here. But his playing is everywhere in his discography...honestly, you shouldn't have to look very far at all.

Ribot is excellent, and far above the average studio jazz guitarist, but it has to be Zappa for me.

Probably won't be able to give much detail under the circumstances, but Hot Rats is possibly my favorite guitar-oriented album of all time.
