Rather surprised at these two. Jefferson's kind of a questionable man, to say the least, and Bohr for me lost a lot of respect in his dealings with Everett, a guy I love.

Oh, but glad to see EO Wilson on there. Truly a genius. Do you know of Haeckel? I feel like you'd love his work as much as I do
Well the criteria was direct influence in the sense that I included people I had read and those who had a more pervasive influence on my approach and understanding of science in general and not just their achievements in QM. I obviously know of Dirac's vast influence, we owe him the terminology and the transformation theory and esp. his pedagogical influence on the teaching methods of QM and today's textbooks are evident and one person that we know in Turkey for his textbooks and influence on later generations is Behram Kurşunoğlu who was a student of Dirac himself and also my first introduction to QM on paper was a book by another one of his students, Polkinghorne; so there is indeed an influence but since I didn't read any of his work growing up (i haven't read anything by him at all actually but even if I had it wouldn't have been a contributor because it wouldn't really be an influence) I didn't include him.

Osho: Eastern Philosopher (though he may not have liked that term)

Philosophers may not like it too. I define philosopher as "someone whose works are read by other philosophers and are referred to in their works and are discussed in academy". You may object that this is vicious circle because it depends on the word philosopher itself but it actually works if you're willing to ignore the causal loop.

                          Interesting topic

In no order (and I'm gonna ramble on about each a little and make this kind of the "about me" I never did on that thread AlexZangari made). Top 4 (at least at the moment)

Best friend from High school - He's the greatest argument there is for Christianity being reasonable and probably why I don't have the negative stigma attached to Christians many have. Very loving and selfless person and a very pragmatic and thorough understanding of The Bible (also he has a chart on here). So I guess I'll give a shout out to Jesus here since he is the one who brought this guy to his understanding. Also as others have pointed out he's a pretty sound individual all round (even if I don't personally think/believe he's any more divine than anyone else).

Osho: Eastern Philosopher (though he may not have liked that term) who was massive in the 70s and 80s and passed on in the 90s (or at least his physical form did D: ). Hundreds of videos on youtube and hundreds of books. He speaks so beautifully and honestly (often brutally so) and his teachings have helped to completely transform my life in the last year and the half as he brought me to meditation. Most of his teachings are based on Buddha's so I'll give credit to that big guy too.

My Mum: From her I learnt to try and include everyone and never leave anyone out and how beautiful sacrificing yourself for others can be. (shout out to Pops for getting me into music (both listening and playing))

God/Existence/The Universe/Life/Whateveryouwanttocallit: I had never actually experienced God even when I was a Christian for a few years but now I have and continue do so. I could never prove it to anybody and have no need to but I am certain for myself that there is a higher power - whether it is a being or just the amalgamation of all life on the planet or just conscious energy (I tend to think a combo of the latter two) and it has taught me to accept that regardless of my personal views the world goes on and always will - with me or without me - and I personally find that a very comforting and wonderfully humbling thought.

HM: Pretty much everyone I've ever encountered in my life (Including peeps on the internet) and everything I've ever read, heard, seen etc
My father: alcohol, cigarettes, politics, women.
My mother: music, cigarettes, women.
Radio/TV/80s French Top 50: songs, English language.
"OK" magazine lyrics-to-your-favourite-hits page / The Beatles' blue comp's liner notes: English language, singing.
My English teacher from Junior High: teaching English, learning English, women.

Pretty much covers it. Parents + environment.
The Ian Curtis one, I 100% agree with, but he shaped a lot of my years. I was one of those sort of bow down he was the greatest kinds of people. And honestly, his work still means a lot to me, but I've realized now that the guy was 1 Literally insane, 2 Really not all too intelligent, and 3 Not even all too great a musician. "Touching From A Distance" opened my eyes to the person he really was, and that changed a lot for me, but his mindset on the world and some of his lyrics ("Existence ... well what does it matter? I exist on the best terms I can" and "I'm not afraid anymore" are among a few of the one liners that have changed who I am) continue to shape me, at least a little.

I'm not saying "You know what, I'm going to grow up and be Jack". I can't. I honestly don't think I have the mental capacity, wherewithal, or confidence to do it. I'll be surprised if I ever try hard drugs, even. Hookups aren't a thing that have ever happened for me or even entirely made sense for me. But that doesn't mean Jack didn't change me. I don't know if you remember, but in the advice thread, Jack said to me, essentially, "Ben, listen. Really listen. You're not listening to us. You're asking for advice, there's a lot of people here for you, and you're throwing it away and making stupid decisions. Is this really what you want?" And the answer was no. And I ask myself that now before I go ahead and just do anything anymore. That doesn't begin to include the nights he helped me even be able to go to sleep over panic attacks, or the fact he was able to console me for what was literally the worst thing that has happened in my life and the only incident I'm not entirely open with all of you about. Jack stopped me from self harm multiple times and is the only reason I've been able to open up with anyone at all (and I think there are 4 individuals including him who know) about what happened. Honestly, without Jack, I would've quit the site, almost certainly. Without Jack, I would still be trying to get my best friend, one of the biggest mistakes I could've made. I wouldn't have my girlfriend. I wouldn't feel clean enough to have a girlfriend. My mental state had put me in a place of feeling so bleak on my worldview that I didn't talk anymore. I shut down entirely. I still came here and put on a face, but you'll notice I shifted from being a pretty open listener and commenter to focusing far more on a few specific threads, to only listening to Deja Entendu, etc. Jack's the reason I was able to see that I wasn't alone and I didn't have to just shut up, I didn't have to just bottle, I didn't have to get laughed at. There were people, real, flesh and blood people, who were there for me. There was someone behind the screen who specifically didn't get drunk one night, stopped the bender he'd been on, just to try and help me, to try and convince me to go to therapy if I needed it, or provide the other materials I would need if I chose I could handle it on my own (or at the least, that I would). He helped me know I wasn't alone, in my situation or in that moment. When I'd even hinted about what happened to one person before, they laughed at me, literally laughed in my face, before I could tell them what had really happened. Just the set up was enough the laughed. Jack understood. Jack gave me hope that there are people out there who exist who really do care about other people. Was he heartless at times? Oh yeah. I can't even say I blame the site for banning him, he was almost asking for it near the end. I love denmark to death (he's helped me through other things as well) and what Jack was saying, while really just blowing off steam from other things I think, was really incredibly inappropriate, childish, and flat out stupid. I don't think he's perfect. No one on that list is perfect. Everett killed himself, my ex can be entirely heartless, Curtis killed himself, Williams killed himself, Joseph and Lacey have both at the least been suicidal if not attempted, Vernon literally still whines about his high school sweetheart for pay, Lennon was at times truly and solely a self centered fool, AK_Thrower was arguably a horrible influence and someone I shouldn't've been talking to, denmark can make dumb comments and Tom can make dumb comments and I can make dumb comments and you can make dumb comments. Jack went above and beyond "dumb comments" into real bile, but damn if he didn't help me. I can confidently say that without him, I would not be the person I am today. I wouldn't frequent r/suicidewatch to try to, occasionally literally, talk people out of jumping. I wouldn't be comfortable holding my friend as she cried about being broken up with, I wouldn't be comfortable writing about a variety of topics, I wouldn't speak up about things on the internet. I would be a shell. I would be exactly what I wanted to be until he reminded me I could be more. Could others have done the same? Yeah, you know, and I'm confident they would've. If not him, I think either swede or irish or Cuba or a variety of others would've been there for me, and have been since, even. But in that moment, it was him, it was Jack and Jack alone who I could open up to, and Jack and Jack alone who changed my life and my worldview.

TL;DR Curtis was me being a dumb and dark kid, but while Jack isn't perfect, or near to it, nor a role model, that doesn't mean he didn't save me, and that doesn't mean he didn't make me a better person.
The mindset of Kanye, kind of disregarding anything that can bring you down, etc. That's what I get from him. His music/personality really brings me up and I've surrounded myself with him/his actions for the past year now and I've changed a lot from it.

Of course this may be from aging in general, but hey.

Like other said, everyone that I've interacted with has impacted the way I view things in one way or another

A good base would be:

Kanye West (my personality)
Aubrey Graham (Drake) (my personality/how I show emotion)
Jesus (attitude)
Thom Yorke (interaction)
Sufjan Stevens (how to portray myself)

Wow, not as many people as I thought. I'm sure that there are more, but I like this list.
