To expand upon the topic of the Pitchfork Reader's Poll, FKA twigs cleaned up big time, snatching first place in the categories of Best Song, Best New Artist, Best Music Video and Best Album Cover. That's 4 out of 8 categories (counting the postive categories only, therefore excluding things like most overrated album and the dislikes).

Will never really like Fantano I don't think but I will admit it's one of the better end of year lists I've seen. Lots of stuff in the top ten I really dig (Iceage, Liars, the obvious ones) and some interesting stuff to check out potentially too. Woulda been nice to see some Ought on there though.

Actually enjoyed the video too, with brief descriptions of the albums, and a refreshing confession that actually he got some of his reviews wrong and that certain albums did indeed grow on him over the course of the year, which I think is an important thing to remember about these end-of-year lists.

I agree that "Here And Nowhere Else" has been underrated overall this year. It's one of those slow burner albums that continues to get better with every listen. It's appearing on a lot of lists, but most of them have put it pretty far down. Consequence Of Sound's list was the only place I saw it in the top 10. My personal favorite album of the decade so far.

looking at metacritics critics top 10 picks list, i find that the cloud nothings album has been woefully underrated. it's not their fault they put out just as good of an album as "attack on memory"... ok, it is their fault, but to fault them for carbon-copy success is loopy.

Realistically these lists should be released early next year to give a better view of the year as whole, February would be good as there wouldn't be much out from the new year and it would give people more time to catch up on the previous year, that said though, people want to know what albums are popular coming up to Christmas, these lists will always be popular just before Christmas and can't see that changing too much anytime soon...
