Coldplay sure sells alotta records, but public opinion of them seems to be pretty low. If you ask a random person off the street what they think of coldplay, they probly won't have anything good to say about them.

I could never get into Oasis. i don't understand all the praise they get.

I've been exposed to Coldplay far more growing up than Oasis, but both groups receive more praise than I really think is warranted. Both are good, but neither is tremendously exciting to me.

Morning Glory is a masterpiece. I could do without the rest of Oasis' catalog, though.

Don't care for Coldplay.

Nirvana may be overrated a bit because of their place in history, but I still think Cobain was one of the most gifted musicians of his generation. Such a pity.

It doesn't really matter. I mean, I love Coldplay and like maybe Oasis songs, but I can see why they would be considered overrated. Both have that generic, safe formula. If you were scaling them as compared to super experimental music then I guess they'd be overrated, but I feel like they each occupy a nice little niche. 😉

I worship Coldplay so obviously I don't really think so.

As for Oasis, I have their two best albums and still love to listen to them too.

I don't think either are overrated.

Actually the attitude of my previous message was sarcastic; I love Pink Moon and The Flaming Lips have stuff I like and stuff I don't care much for, but I haven't listened a full album of theirs yet. It was mostly sarcasm indicating how bands like the ones mentioned in the OP will always be victims of bad criticism and how artists like the ones I mentioned will always be the holy cows among the music community. That said, Nick Drake was fucking awesome.

I'm not crazy about Nick Drake and the Lips have been falling down my list recently.

I'm pretty indifferent about both so yeah! Fuck those guys and their music!

Edit: Actually, now I feel bad. Nick Drake seems like a cool guy and the Flaming Lips...ok, I don't give a rats ass about the Flaming Lips.
