Actually, he is correct, the most is grammatically redundant. Saying "my favorite singer" still suggests that you have other singers but James you just prefer to the rest.

Well this is a music forum, isn't it? Well, James is my most favorite singer and sadly there are plenty of people who have never heard of him, so what is really wrong with my telling about his music here or anywhere else online where we are allowed to tell about our favorite singers? If you are not interested in his material, you don't have to acknowledge anything that I have to say about him. Actually saying anything about him to me or anyone else here only draws more attention to him which leads me to asking this question. What kind of a favor does your asking me about why I'm here do for your favorite singers? If you think about it, you will realize that I am really no different than the rest of y'all. Y'all have your favorites and you don't hesitate to tell about them, so why should I hesitate to tell about my favorites just because they are not who the rest of y'all like?
