I was inspired to do a Beach Boys series of alternate albums after coming across another person doing the same thing on YouTube, called Scott G. He/She has done impressive work, making an alternate album for every single Beach Boys album.

What in particular I wanted to do was three or four albums between 1968 and 1971, a time of great change for the Beach Boys.

While looking at their sessionography, I noticed a decent sized session, months after Friends and months before 20/20 and I thought, "Could you make an album out of this material?"

I also though the same for some lone sessions that took place two months after 20/20.

These were the results.

Rendezvous
An album in a similar lo-fi vein as Friends.

I also have plans from a version of Add Some Music, the album that eventually became Sunflower, but I have to test out the songs and tracklists before I can post it.

Very cool concept because I've always though... man their solo careers... while they have good highlights suffer from that synergistic flow and having 3 great writers in the band just makes it that much more easy to write super quality stuff... they almost lack that synergy. Some of it is great and some of it less so. Although Paul's my favorite Beatle in the Beatles, John's solo work is AMAZING, and Paul's albums were pretty hit and miss... some really interesting stuff and some less so.

Now I must do something similar. I just must... this idea is just way too fun. Which solo career songs meld well together/are their best during different periods. Just genius of an idea. Which songs on their current recordings would have been B-Sides had they stayed together, etc.

So I got a wordpress up, but I am not uploading anything yet. Right now, I want to go over what I have done and what I want to do for the future and what suggestions anyone might want to give for something I can do. Here is the long list of the projects I'm looking at doing/have done.

• 1862, Small Faces
The album the would have followed Ogden's Nut Gone Flake and before Small Faces broke up, featuring some of the song that were eventually released on The Autumn Stone.

• The 50 States, Sufjan Stevens
An epic 3 disc compiling songs from Greetings From Michigan, Come On Feel the Illinoise and many outtakes and unreleased songs to create an album that sums up Sufjan Stevens 50 States Project.

• 7 Ft. Wide Car, 6 Ft. Wide Garage, The Who
Based on the tracklist of their unreleased 1970 EP, this album features The Who's material from the year 1970, with side 1 being the EP tracklist and side 2 being a studio recreation of their live line up, with other songs like "The Seeker".

• Add Some Music, The Beach Boys
Before the album Sunflower, Add Some Music was a potential version for release, including many of the more famous unreleased Beach Boys songs from that era.

• Ashamed to Be Human, Nirvana
Using the songs off of Incesticide, this is an attempt to make a Nirvana album before Bleach.

• Bad [Double], Michael Jackson
An attempt to make a cohesive album out of the outtakes from Michael Jackson's album Bad in order to bring it to his vision of a double album.

• Bambu, Dennis Wilson
One of the more famous unreleased albums is the second album by the late Beach Boy, featuring would be classics like "Constant Companion" and "Under the Moonlight".

• The Beatles in the 70s
An imaginary series of albums with the idea of "what if The Beatles didn't break up?" Using many of the songs off of their solo albums, I'll try to make 6 cohesive Beatle-esque albums.

• The Beatles’ solos in 1968
Solo albums for Lennon, McCartney and Harrison out of their songs and outtakes from The White Album.

• Beware of Darkness, Derek and the Dominos with George Harrison
An album out of the songs feature 2 or more of the members of Derek and the Dominos off of George Harrison's All Things Must Pass.

• Cale/Reed collab album
A collaboration between ex-Velvet Underground members pre-Songs for Drella made out of material from both of their 70s output.

• Camille, Prince
One of Prince's attempts at an alter-ego and one of the versions of the album that eventually became Sign 'O' the Times.

• Ceremony, Joy Division
What is Joy Division had one more album? This album attempts to recreate something along those lines, using outtakes from the album Still and using songs from the first New Order album Movement.

• Chateau d’Isaster, Jethro Tull
Made out of the sessions Jethro Tull did at Château d'Hérouville, this is the album that evetuall turned into A Passion Play.

• Cigarettes and Valentines, Green Day
I try my best of creating an album out of this stolen punk album out of songs we know were recorded for the album, songs from that era, and cheating through way of using songs from Money 2020.

• Cold Cuts, Paul McCartney
A famous album of unreleased Macca material, resequenced for your pleasure.

• The Commission, The Notorious BIG/Jay-Z/Puff Daddy/’Lil Cease
A would-be hip hop supergroup, using many songs recording between 1996-1998 off of their solo albums and Biggie posthumous albums in order the create what would have been if Biggie was able to bring the group together.

• Could You Walk On the Water?, The Rolling Stones
Before Aftermath, this was an album that was considered for American release. Now with a new sequence order to give the listener a better listen experience for the alternate Aftermath.

• Crystal Ball, Prince
A three LP album by the Purple One, in another pre-Sign album.

• Cumular Limits, The Yardbirds
What would have been the last Yardbirds album, made up of some of their last recordings and creating an easy transition from The Yardbirds to The New Yardbirds aka Led Zeppelin.

• Daybreak 1969, Pink Floyd
A compilation of some of Pink Floyd's best material from 1969, from Ummagumma, More, singles and songs released on later compilation albums.

• Down In the Flood, Bob Dylan
An album made up of songs from the mysterious Dylan period of 1971, using tracks off of Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 and other unreleased tracks.

• Dream Factory, Prince & The Revolution
The first attempt at a follow-up to Parade and the first version of what would be Sign 'O' the Times.

• Foggy Notion, The Velvet Underground
The Velvet Underground's 1969 follow up to their self titled album featuring many of the songs featured on VU and Another View, using many of the version from the new deluxe version of the self-titled album.

• Four More Respected Gentlemen, The Kinks
Another version of an American release this time by The Kinks and their release of songs from their Village Green sessions.

• From A Basement On A Hill [Double], Elliott Smith
An attempt to make the what-would-have-been double album out of outtakes and unused material from the Basement On a Hill sessions.

• Fungo Bat, Nazz
The follow up to Nazz's debut album would have been this double LP, featuring many of the songs later featured on their actual second and eventual their third and last album.

• Gethsemene, Love
An attempt to create this possibly fake album out of unreleased songs from the Forever Changes sessions, singles, songs from Four Sail and unreleased MacLean songs.

• Gene Tryp EP, The Byrds
A version of the unreleased musical Peer Gynt made out of materials written solely by McGuinn and Levy, making a double EP.

• Get Back/Let It Be, The Beatles
Either a re-edit of what would have been the album Get Back, a rough album featuring studio in-takes, or doing my own version of the Let It Be album.

• Goodnight Wallcats, John Lennon/Harry Nilsson/Ringo Starr
Something I found on the Steve Hoffman forums, this album bringing together songs from Lennon and Nilsson, who worked together on Pussycat and Walls and Bridges, as well as songs both contributed to Starr's Goodnight Vienna.

• Homegrown, Neil Young
One of the more famous of unreleased albums from an artist with a backlog of unreleased albums. This is a single disc attempt at Homegrown out of already released materials.

• Kate Bush 1978-1986, Kate Bush
A compilation of some of the best songs from 1978 to 1986 of my new favorite artist, Kate Bush.

• A Kick In the Head Is Worth Eight in the Pants, The Bee Gees
One of their early ballad albums. (And one of the best album titles)

• (Tent. Title “Last With Nash”), The Hollies
What would have been the Hollies last album, post-Butterfly, with Graham Nash.

• Lifehouse, The Who
One of the most famous of all unreleased albums is this confusing sci-fi concept double album by The Who, which makes up a majority of Who's Next.

• The Lillywhite Sessions, The Dave Matthews Band
A leaked version of the early recording from Busted Stuff; possible new tracklist and stuff.

• Lincoln County, Dave Davis
The first solo album for this Kinks member, putting together a majority of the material recorded in the late 60s, eventually released on Kinks reissues.

• The Madcap’s Questions To Heaven, Pink Floyd
What if Syd Barrett stayed with Pink Floyd for one more album? This album attempts to recreate just that, with unreleased Floyd songs and Barrett solo outtakes.

• Mick Jaggar and the Red Devil Blues
A cohesive album out of the sessions between Mick Jaggar and the Red Devils.

• McCartney II [Double], Paul McCartney
The infamous album McCartney II as a double album, with the attempt to make it as cohesive and enjoyable as possible.

• Mechanical Bliss, Van Morrison
An unreleased 70s Van Morrison album

• Montage of Heck Redux, Kurt Cobain
Using demos from Nirvana and recently released songs, I attempt to make Montage of Heck into a structurally enjoyable album worthy of being a Cobain solo effort.

• My Sweetheart the Drunk, Jeff Buckley
The what-would-have-been follow-up to Grace from the late Jeff Buckley using the songs off of the Sketches From... album. (Their is also a possible third album made up of the 4 track demos and unreleased materials.)

• The Ninth Wave, Kate Bush
An album version of the side 2 suite off of Kate's album Hounds of Love, featuring B-sides in an attempt to bring the album to album length and yet still be a cohesive story.

• Open Up and Bleed, The Stooges
Made up of their Detroit session songs from Raw Power, this is the what would have bee their 4th album before the break up.

• Physical Graffiti [Single], Led Zeppelin
A single disc version of Physical Graffiti using only the original songs from the Graffiti sessions.

• Positively 4th, Bob Dylan
A compilation of the unreleased Dylan songs from 1965-1966.

• Rat Patrol From Fort Bragg, The Clash
The double album that eventually became Combat Rock; I put my spin on the tracklist.

• Red Rose Speedway [Double], Paul McCartney and Wings
A double album version of my favorite Wings album, featuring many unreleased songs from both Linda and Denny Laine as well as live songs from this era

• Remember the Zoo?, The Beach Boys
A fake Beach Boys album made out of songs from Today!, Summer Days..., Pet Sounds and Smile. It's like their version of "Yesterday"... and Today, but with more mish-mash.

• Resurrection, Michael Jackson
What would have been the follow up to Invincible in 2003, but scrapped before the trial. Features Invincible outtakes, songs from his posthumous albums and demos from 1998-2003; as many as I could find.

• The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust… [Double], David Bowie
An attempt to recreate the Ziggy Stardust musical in the form of a double album for the late David Bowie.

• Rises To the Top, Cream
A compilation I found here on BestEverAlbums of a Cream compilation out of 10 of their best songs.

• Rock Is Dead – Long Live Rock, The Who
The album that eventually turned into Quadrophenia, this is my attempt at the unreleased Who album, with a different song lineup.

• Sheep, Nirvana
The pre-Nevermind album, made up of the songs recorded with Chad Channing as drummer.

• Single Fantasy, John Lennon
A combination of Lennon's songs from Double Fantasy and Milk and Honey to create a solo Lennon album.

• SMiLE, The Beach Boys
Probably the greatest unreleased album of all time. I do not need to say more.

• Snake Lake Blues, Derek and the Dominos
A shot at what would have been Derek and the Dominos' second album after Layla...

• Sometime In New York City Redux, John & Yoko/Plastic Ono Band with Elephant’s Memory
A redux of the really bad Lennon album, featuring a slightly different song lineup to give a better listening experience.

• Songs From the Black Hole, Weezer
One of my first attempts at an unreleased album (along with SMiLE) this would have been a space opera concept album that would have followed by Weezer's blue debut, but instead turned into Pinkerton.

• Somewhere In England, George Harrison
The original version of this Harrison album.

• Stampede, Buffalo Springfield
The original version of Buffalo Springfield's second album before it became ...Again.

• Strate Ahead, Jimi Hendrix
My version of Jimi Hendrix's last would-be album based off of the Strate Ahead tracklist.

• (Original version of) Surf’s Up, The Beach Boys
The version of Surf's Up as originally intended, with Dennis Wilson's unreleased songs throughout the album, and with a how new sequence.

• Technopop, Kraftwerk
The original version of the electronic Krautrock band's followup to Computer World, which eventually became Electric Cafe.

• This Is It, Michael Jackson
Using audio from the film of the same name, I attempt to make an album of what would have been Jackson's O2 concerts before his death.

Thriller without filler.

Combining songs from White Light/White Heat and Chelsea Girls into and album for the idea of what-if Nico was still with The Velvet Underground in 1968.

• Who’s For Tennis, The Who
The punny-named stopgag between The Who Sell Out and Tommy featuring outtakes from Sell Out and singles from 1968.

• Works, Yes
An idea found in the comments section of Albums That Never Were, the 3 LP combining the tracks off of the 1976 solo albums of the Yes band members.

Unfortunately my account on bandcamp has been taken down or is just not there anymore, obviously for copyright violations. And I promised myself I would find a new method of releasing these albums if this were ever to happen. I'll find the best method and reupload all the albums and bring you guys some new ones and tryout some of your suggestions as well.

Has anyone heard of the sessions with Rick Rubin and U2?

I guess U2 is notorious with going into the studio with unfinished songs and Rick Rubin doesn't work like that at all (a song needs to be complete before bringing it into the studio), and so they parted ways.

When I look for more info on it, it just says it got shelved... very curious of how that stuff sounded.

I did not really know what I wanted to post for today, so, I decided to just with what I had in my CD player at this time.

This is my version of Paul McCartney and Wing's RED ROSE SPEEDWAY as a double album. Red Rose Speedway was supposed to be a double album, feature material written during the RAM sessions, songs from both Linda McCartney and Denny Laine respectively as well as many other, but it was eventually cut down to the single disc album it is today.

It may not be considered the strongest album put out by Macca, but to me, it is my personal favorite of mine by him, so far. And its a shame because there are some good outtakes from this album that would have escalated it from messy but absolutely enjoyable single disc album to a double album showcasing what Wings could do in this time period, featuring outtakes like "Seaside Woman", "I Would Only Smile", "Mama's Little Girl" and Wing's cover of "Tragedy" and many others. Enjoy.

With George Harrison's discography now available to stream, it had me look back at the imaginary Beatles albums I had made and how mediocre my 1974 album (Band on the Run) is to 1973 (Photograph) or 1971 (Imagine Plastic Rams).So I decided to change the tracklist up a bit.

Here's the new track list:

But then I got to listen to some of my versions and the audio is absolutely everywhere. I mean, that is the case on some of my other albums, but the sound difference is drastic due to the different sources. So, I am thinking of equalizing all the audio files, for better listening.

And change a few things, like removed "Look at Me" and "Hot as Sun" (but not "Glasses") from Apple Jam and maybe use the alternate take of "Imagine" from Wonsaponatime, which I prefer.

And then, I'll release my imaginary 1980 Beatles album SKYWRITING BY WORD OF MOUTH. And I got tons of new projects still ahead and lined up for the future, like some Stones, more Who and Mr. Jeff Buckley.
